"What! No! We must separate them!" Peridot said hastily. She couldn't let any harm come to Lapis, not after all the poor gem has been through. She went from being forced too fight for homeworld in the Crystal Rebellion, to being forced into a mirror, to being forced to inform Peridot and Jasper about earth, and now to being force fused to that witch Jasper. Nothing more would befall Lapis as long as Peridot was around to say otherwise.
"We have to! Lapis Lazuli and Jasper and a huge danger to this planet! If you are a Crystal Gem, you will help us crush them both!" Pearl said accusingly.
"I'll gladly help you smash Jasper, or whatever you want. But Lapis was my informant, and I know everything that happened to her the 5000 years she was stuck here on earth. I'm not letting anything else hurt her. Especially you, Pearl." Peridot said bitterly, crossing her arms. Pearl went to say something then was silent, remembering what she accidentally did to the blue gem.
Amethyst was not as easily subdued as Pearl. "Lapis still tried to kill all of us. I think that's grounds for us smashing her."
"Lapis was defending herself from her captors. She thought you wanted to put her in another mirror" Peridot said. "How would you like it if you were hurt for thousands of years with no one trying to help you, everyone eventually just forgetting about you? I probably wouldn't have been as nice to you as she was." Peridot said, a little angry. Yellow Diamond treated Peridot like crap on almost a daily basis, but it was nothing compared to how lapis had been treated.
Amethyst looked down. "You're right..." She said.
"I know I'm right. Now, can someone sensible tell me what we are going to do to get them unfused?" Peridot shouted.
"We have one of your shockie sticks" Steven chimed in after a moment of silence. "I found it after the ship crashed, and it still works. It unfused Garnet, it can unfuse Malachite, right?" He asked.
"It can, but it needs a big charge. It stores electric energy. Is there any way to give this a huge electrical charge in the next 20 minutes?" Peridot asked.
Garnet reached out and took it, walking to the warp. "I know a place. I'll be right back." She said in her plain voice. She warped out instantly.
"Oooooookay then...well we have that...we can assume Malachite will be immobilized by Lapis. All we have to do is sneak up on her. Any ideas?" Peridot asked, Number One hiding deep in her hair.
"Ummmmm I can turn into some kind of fish and carry someone inside" Amethyst piped in.
"That won't work. Jasper is an ancient warrior gem. She's seen that trick before. We need something more complicated." Peridot said
"I can roll up behind her in my bubble with someone if someone else can distract her" Steven said.
"That would work! Garnet could go with you to keep you safe!" Peridot says. "Good work, you Steven."
"Thanks! I think!" He replies.
Garnet warps back, the gem destabilizer sparking like mad. "Done." She says, walking back to her spot.
"Okay, just be very careful not to touch anyone with it. It will instantly send them into their gem and it will lose the charge. We need to save it for Malachite." Peridot said.
"Sounds like a plan!" Amethyst said, cracking her knuckles, excited to be moving again.
"I don't know..this sounds really dangerous..." Pearl said, skeptical of Peridot. "What if Lapis turns on us?"
"Well, not saying you don't deserve it, but she won't be able to. At first anyway. She will be sent into her gem by the destabilizer. I'll take charge of her gem, and I'll talk her out of crushing you like a bug when she reforms." Peridot said, directly to Pearl.
Peridot was really angry with Pearl. How could you not know another living gem was trapped inside of her forehead for thousands of years. It takes a special kind of stupid to do that.
Just then, Peridot's other robonoids got up and started trying to run out the door. Number One stayed put. Peridot hadn't given it any commands other than to sit on her head, safe. If all else failed, she would still have Number One.
"Looks like that's our que Gems!" Garnet said, running out to follow the robots. Peridot went and swiped her foot, no longer having to walk with a really awkward gait, and ran out to follow.
"I'm finally going to do something right for a change! I'm going to rescue Lapis!" Peridot said, almost giddy.
