I wake up late on the day of my wedding. I was up all night trying to force myself to sleep and Yasmin texted me that things were out of control at her house. We agreed that we were just going to have nikkah because neither one of us wanted a crazy wedding that was just haram. I go to pray Juma prayer which was packed as always. I get back home and Laura was cooking in the kitchen. I go into help her. "No, you need to go get ready," she says. "No, thats after Asr prayer," I assure her and besides I should cook and you can do cleaning," I suggest. She just laughs but doesn't moving from the stove.

"You are getting married today," she says tearing up. She didn't hug me because I explained to her why that was not permitted and she accepted that. "Yeah... I'm growing up," I tell her. "And you're moving out," she adds wiping away her tears. I nod sadly "Alhamdulillah... may Allah grant you blessings and a place in Jannah... you and Brother Joe," I tell her.

"Oh... me and Joe have great news to tell you later," she smiles. Brother Joe then walks in as if on cue. "Joe... we should tell Tarik the great news," Sister Laura says. They both sit down on the island stools. I sit down to guessing this was very important. "We converted," Brother Joe simply says. "You what?" I ask trying to get a better understanding of what they said. "We convert to Islam... ever since we adopted you we started researching Islam and it is wonderful and then meeting Yasmin and her family just gave us that boost to convert," Sister Laura explains. I smile but was lost of words. It was the most beautiful thing I've heard, it made my heart bloom. "Alhamdulillah, that is amazing news... may Allah help you guys be the best Muslims you can possible be... Mashallah this is amazing," I say.

All of us pray salah together for the first time ever. I stand in the front leading the prayer. After we finish praying Asr we all go get ready. I wear my suit and head downstairs. Sister Laura wore a hijab and that just made me smile. "Wow, Sister Laura," I smile. She smiles "did I wear it correctly?" she questions. I give her a thumbs up.

We head to Yasmin's house. The male head to the mosque to sign the paper of the marriage. We all sit there listening to the Imam and then he gives us the paper and I sign. It was official Yasmin and me were married. Everyone gives me hugs and says duas for the wedding. We all pray and head back to Yasmin's house.

"We are here!" Ahmed yells as we walk in. We all sit down in the living room but I was waiting to see Yasmin. "Where is she?" I whisper to Khalil who was sitting next to me. "Up stairs," he whispers. "We're going upstairs now," Khalil says. I follow him up the stairs.

Khalil knocks on the door. "Yaz, Tarik wants to come in," Khalil says. "Just a minute," I hear her say. A few girls walk out the door and closes it. "You can go in now," Lilia says with a smile running down the stairs.

I open the door and Yasmin was sitting there with a mint colored dress. She was trying to put on her hijab once I walk in. She looks very beautiful mashallah.
