Khalil comes back without Yasmin and i knew that something was wrong. I get up to excuse myself but Brother Karam tells me to have a seat. "Yasmin is stubborn but she'll come around," he says. I stand there with my hands on the table. "Sir, all due respect I think I should talk to her and see if she's okay," I say. "She's fine... like my dad said she's stubborn," Khalil says staring at his plate of his food. Honestly their family is nothing like I pictured before. "Just have a seat," Brother Joe whispers. I sigh and sit down not happy about it.

"Can I go talk to her," one of Yasmin's cousin's say. "No, Nadia... no one is going to go talk to Yasmin... she just wants attention and that's something she is not getting," Brother Karam says. I was shocked by his words that I spring up to my seat and go off to find Yasmin myself.

I see her outside in the front yard under a tree. I walk up to her and sit down beside her. "You ok?" I ask but she just stares out into the road. "Yaz," I say putting my hand on her shoulder. She takes a deep breath and looks at me with watery hazel eyes. "What happened?" I question. She stares at the ground with a sigh. "You can talk to me," I tell her. "My family doesn't even care about me anymore... they think I'm seeking for attention when I'm trying to help them, but what I say is not important," she says holding her tears from slipping.

"That's not true... they love you and care for you," I tell her. "They love Khalil more than me... everyone knows that," she says. I didn't reply because that may be true. She looks up at me with sadness in her eyes, then says "I think Khalil canceled me out as a part of the family... he said he doesn't need my blessing for his wedding." I stare at her in shock, I never thought of Khalil to do such a thing, especially to his sister.

Yasmin's cousin comes out. I think her name was Nadia. She sits down on the opposite of Yasmin. "Khalil is a jerk," she says. Yasmin stares at her waiting for her to go on. "He said you're not invited to his wedding if you are not going to act mature," she says. "What did Brother Karam... matter of fact what did Sister Amina say?" I question. Nadia looks at me and then Yasmin "Uncle Karam agreed," Nadia says with a sigh "Auntie Amina doesn't know she was in the kitchen," she adds looking sad.

"Let's go home," Yasmin says standing up. "I'll get Gavin and Dunya," I say running off to get them. "Dunya and Gavin lets go," I tell them. "Oh, I thought they could stay with us," Sister Laura says. "Oh, um... okay," I say goodbye. I meet Yasmin in the lawn where I left them.

"Can Nadia come over please?" Yasmin questions. "Yeah... I guess," I say. "I'll go ask my mom," Nadia runs off. I look back at Yasmin who plasters a smile on her face and gives me a hug. I know all of this is hard for. "Thank you," she smiles. Nadia comes back with a smile. "My mom said it's ok... as long as I come back tomorrow," she explains. We nod and head to the car.

Yasmin turns on the radio which was playing Deen Squad; Yasmin loves listening to them. "Did you hear your wife's singing?" Nadia asks in the back. "Yeah... it's something else," I mumble not trying to be rude. "I know she has vocals... when we use to live here... in middle school she won in the talent show," Nadia says. I glance at Yasmin who was staring out the window. So she can sing, she was faking it that other night. I just smile and look back at the road.

We get home and head to the living room. "Your house is beautiful," Nadia says. "Thanks," both Yasmin and me say at the same time. We smile at each other. "Match made in heaven," Nadia mumbles. We just laugh and sit down. "Oh... I forgot to tell you what happened with Amir," Nadia says pulling her legs on the comfortable chair. Yasmin looks at her getting comfortable as well. "He came up to me in school and he tried to talk to me but he tripped and dumped he drink on me," she laughs. Yasmin's eyes grows bigger "again... that boy is tripping over you," she jokes. The both break out laughing. I don't think I'll ever understand girls.
