Chapter Two: The Guest
"Stay."
Samantha turned to her right and saw a small figure curled up, one hand clutching her foot.
"Who are you?" Samantha asked with a tint of nervousness.
For a minute, Samantha considered screaming in fright. She was positive that having a stranger not willing to let go of you is not a normal sight.
The small figure lifted its head. Samantha could now clearly see a teen girl with vibrant red curls hiding her pale face, which is covered by freckles.
But this girl, somehow was different from typical stalkers (or strangers?). Like her rare porcelain complexion and tangled scarlet hair...but they weren't the only things that intrigued Samantha.
"Cassie."
"How about your surname?"
Cassie didn't answer her. Her grasp on Samantha tightened instead.
Samantha knew that when it comes to Math, she was a complete failure. It didn't mean she wasn't capable of observing people.
The teenagers Samantha knew were full of strong emotions, widely known as 'feels' in 'fandoms'. But Cassie's pretty face was just like her voice...monotone. She reminded Samantha of an Victorian porcelain doll.
"Come in," was Samantha's soft reply.

Samantha's home wasn't big, but fit enough for a person.
"It isn't much," Samantha said, handing Cassie a cup of tea. "By the way, my name is Samantha." She added.
Cassie's green eyes darted to every inch of Samantha's apartment. Her lips were still firmly shut.
Samantha hung up her wet coat. "Are you cold?"
"Yes," Cassie said in a tilting voice as she handed the clothes to Samantha.
"You should drink the tea," Samantha gestured the cup on the table. "You'll definitely feel better."
Nodding, Cassie raised the cup to her mouth and swallowed the scorching liquid in a gulp.
Samantha's jaw fell to the ground. The cup was hot, very, very hot. Touching the tea cup without warning beforehand could make you wince or groan.
Cassie stared at her blankly. Her big emerald orbs sorta creeping Samantha out.
"The heat doesn't hurt?" Samantha asked as she retrieved the empty cup.
"I'm used to it," responded Cassie.
"Oh," Samantha went in her bedroom then came out with casual wear in her hands. She gave them to Cassie. "You can go shower over there," Samantha pointed to the bathroom. "But please try to make it quick, otherwise you would end up drowning in cold water."
Samantha expected Cassie to giggle at her exaggeration, like a normal person would.
"I like cold water," Cassie said, walking to the bathroom, her voice a bit muffled at the end because she closed the door. "It feels nice."
Samantha threw a pillow and a bedsheet on the small cramped couch.
Snuggling under her blanket, she emitted a long yawn, then was slowly engulfed by darkness.
***
Samantha woke up to her phone ringing.
"Hello?" She grunted.
"So you're just awake," the person on the other line stated. "Sorry for waking you up, honey."
Samantha laughed as she glanced at the clock. "You're just in time, Katherine," She jumped off the hard couch. "Is everything fine?"
