Dedicated to @w.covers, aka Cassie (yup that's her name too!) on Instagram! The book cover she made is FANTASTIC and gah I'm still fangirling over her amazing piece of work.

Chapter Four: He's In

Samantha examined the person at her door.

This person had brown gelled hair, a tall and lean body, an irritating smirk and green eyes that were crinkled slightly.

And he was a part of the male species.

Yup. Definitely not Cassie.

Samantha couldn't believe that this was happening again. "Who are you?"  She demanded. "What do you want?"

"Don't worry, Miss," The stranger said smoothly, the smirk still plastered on his face. "For that I did not come with ill intentions."

"For God's sake please don't think that you're some charming guy because you're failing terribly at it."

He raised an eyebrow. "You think I'm charming?"

Samantha felt her face go beet red for some reason. "No! Just answer my previous questions."

All playfulness faded from the man's face as he walked a step forward.

Samantha held her breath as her eyes fixed on the stranger's intense ones.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Okay," He exhaled sharply. "Listen, Samantha Paige Kerrigan."

"How did you know my full na---"

"I paid you a visit," The man stated. "Because I need your help."

"Um how about n---"

"Think before you act, Kerrigan," He lowered his voice.

"Give me a decent reason."

The man didn't faze at her rude request. He responded with a serious look. "Because you need help from me too."

"Huh?"

"About Cassie."

Samantha opened her mouth, but no witty retort came out.

"H-how did you know? Are you a mind-reader?" She asked after a minute.

"No, I am not Edward Cullen."

"Now that is freaky." Samantha shivered. Geez, really. How did he know?

"I answered your questions," the man emitted a long sigh. "Happy?" He shed his stare away.

"Look at me properly!"

"Not when you don't have pants on."

Oh shit. Samantha quickly glanced at her barely covered thighs. Turning around, she felt her face burning in embarrassment.

"Wait," She muttered, almost mumbling as she slammed the door in his face.

"When will you stop giving me the silent treatment?"

Samantha peeked at the exasperated man who was sitting opposite to her from her hands.

"Kay," She grumbled and sat straight. "I was feeling a bit...embarrassed."

Samantha groaned inside when the jerk's lopsided grin she loathed so much appeared. "Oh, it's fine," he drawled. But Samantha didn't think it was fine. Not at all. "Your daisy duck shirt's totes adorable."

"Please refrain from speaking in a valley girl accent," responded Samantha in a strained voice.

"Huh?" The man looked surprised. "I thought girls, especially dumb blondes---my apologies---blondes talk like that."

Samantha's stare averted to her lap. "You learn something new every day."
A waitress arrived and placed a cheesecakes each in front of the two seated people. Samantha's dull eyes now shone with delight. "This looks wonderful!"

The man looked at her in amusement. "Are you overreacting?"

"Ahem, I don't speak to strangers," Samantha childishly stuck out her tongue as she stabbed a piece of her cake with force.

"Yeah, it's strange that I didn't introduce myself properly lately," he agreed.

"You actually agreed with me," Samantha frowned.

" I don't have mood swings, darling," He flashed a smile that revealed his pearly teeth. Samantha swore that the waitresses' souls were all sucked by those inhumanly white fangs at that moment.

"Your name, Mr. Stalker."

"Ward."

"Is that a surname?" asked Samantha.

"No."

"Then what's your last name?"

His green eyes darkened. "Is it acceptable," he began with nonchalance. "That I don't tell you now?"

Steel. was the first word that came in mind when...Ward finished his response. Which was way too calm...and scary to Samantha's liking.

Samantha bit her lip and nodded.

"Good," Ward said.

She hesitantly put the small pieces of creamy goodness into her mouth.

Ward looked at her full plate then looked at his empty one. "What happened to you?"

Samantha swallowed. "My appetite vanished?"

Ward ignored her crappy excuse. I would, too. She thought.

"Why are we staying here?" Samantha asked.

That's when Ward's phone rang.

"Hello?" Ward said as he shot Samantha a 'don't you dare move otherwise I'll kill you' glare. "Rae, are they coming?"

Pause.

Ward's eyebrows furrowed, his composed expression replaced by astonishment.

"What?" He hissed and stood up. Pause. "No way...how did they do that," he spluttered. "Got it Rae." Ward hung up the phone.

"What is it, Ward?" Samantha inquired.

He placed a bill on the table then stormed out of the restaurant, pulling Samantha along with him.

"Ward!" She yelled. Everything around Samantha moved quicker and blurred. "What's going on?"

"There's no time for questions," Ward's tone held such urgency that  Samantha felt a chill in her spine. "Follow my lead."

She grasped his huge hand tighter.

A/N: This was a bit short, but sorry, I just had to stop here.
Photo by the side/above is Jake Abel as Ward. He really looked like the Luke Castellan (PJO) and Ward I imagine him as!
