Thalia's POV

They put me in a freaking dress. Against my will. I only signed up for this dumb thing so that Luke, Annabeth, and I could stay together. But nope, I couldn't just wear pants like a normal person. That's just too weird for this palace.

And I'm fine with wearing makeup, like black eyeliner and mascara. But lipstick? Pink lipstick? Ah, no. Not happening.

The three maids in my room are busy acting...busy. They're looking anywhere but my face. Okay...

I sink onto my bed, escaping the ridiculously heavy weight of the dress. Who knew fabric could weigh so much.

"When's dinner?" I ask.

All three of my maids jump as if I just shot them.

"Geez, I'm not going to hurt you."

They look at my short black with a strip of electric blue hair and silently judge me. Screw them.

"Right. Well, I guess we better get you ready for dinner, Miss."

I gesture to my crazy fancy outfit. As if I'm not ready enough.

"Um, then is this just my pre-dinner outfit? 'Cuz I feel pretty ready right now."

The maids all share a look. I roll my eyes and look out my window.

"Miss, we just need to do your, um, hair."

"It's done. It ain't gonna get any bluer than this. I'm going to bounce."

I leave them and go into the hall, realizing that I don't know my way around. But there's no way that I'll go back in there and admit it to the maids.

I spot a girl with blonde curly hair in a blue dress. Oh my god. It's Annabeth.

"Annie!" I shout to her.

She turns around and sees me. Her face breaks into a smile. I jog to catch up to her.

"Thals! You look so...different."

"Not a word about the dress, Annabeth. Not one word."

She laughs and gives me a hug. "Wait, how were you able to run? I can hardly walk a step in these stupid heels."

I grin and lift the hem of my skirt a bit. Combat boots are hidden by layers of silk.

"Oh, that's a great idea. Too bad I didn't think of it."

"Too bad."

"Luke told me earlier that he will have two different shifts each day and both are near our rooms! One day it's near mine, then the next it's near yours! And he told me that he would meet us tonight at nine in front of the Woman's Room. Isn't that great?" Annabeth asks. Her face is so hopeful that I have to smile.

"It sure is great. Can't wait to see Luke again."

My heart flutters when I say the word Luke.

Stop it, I tell myself. Luke is like family. You can't feel this way about him. Love makes you weak and I'm not weak.

"Let's get to dinner," Annabeth says.

I help her to the dining room, catching her when she falls on her heels. I feel a pang in my heart as she looks up and smiles at me for he millionth time. She's the little sister I never had.

That was a really crappy update. Sorry for the long wait! I'll update as soon as possible, and it'll be a better one.
