Witches/Warlocks

A witch is a human who practices the crafts of magic and witchcraft. The term witch is typically meant for females but can also be used to describe males, however the specific term for a male witch is warlock. Witches and Warlocks are also known by many other names such as Wizards, Sorcerers, Mages, Spell-casters and children of Hecate. Against common belief in superstition and religion, witches are not satanists and channel there power from nature, other realms or the power within themselves. Most dark magic doesn't connect to demons but simply darker parts of nature such as death and void, however it would be possible for a witch to use demonic magic if they possess the right knowledge and talent.

Witches have a connection to nature and the earth, they can sometimes be guardians of the forces of balance. Witches and warlock don't naturally have a shift, unless through the use of glamours or illusions, but some spells can cause a physical change in themselves or others.

The hunting and burning of witches:
For hundreds of years people were burnt at the stake, hung, crucified or drowned because they were accused of being witches. However it is known that most of the victims of the witch trials where innocent and where not witches at all. But witches still like to keep their magic a secret in case more chaos and murder is caused by ignorant people also their are still hunters out their who would chose to hunt and kill a witch if given the opportunity.

Origin of witches:
Witches are commonly believed to be forces of nature and are a part of how the world works, similar to shapeshifters, many witches are seemingly chosen to take this part in the supernatural world however, unlike many other supernaturals, witches are born completely human but through practice and focus learn how to effect the forces of magic. It is believed that thousands of people round the world have the potential to become a witch however few are capable of reaching this potential and instead become what is known as "Blessed" these are humans who have special abilities however most humans are unaware they are gifted with magic and some gifts are only accessible if that said human becomes something supernatural this is how some werewolves and vampires have special abilities. The reason some people are born with this extra spark is because few witches are still active in our world ever since the Salem witch trails and giving humans gifts is natures way of making up for this, it is also possible for the children of a witch to inherit this power or at least have a heightened aptitude for magics. 

Powers and abilities:
Witches are a very powerful supernatural entities and with enough practice, knowledge and natural affinity of magic a witch can over power much stronger supernaturals.

Channeling: Witches have the ability to channel the power of nature (the five elements) ,the sun ,the moon, magical objects, humans, other supernatural beings and celestial events like a luna eclipse or a full moon. They do this to gather energy and then they can use this energy to power their spells and abilities.
Spell casting: Witches can control the act of change through incantations and rituals using ancient languages (such as Latin, Enochian, Sumerian, Sanskrit, etc) It is believed that the age and meaning of the words give them power. They can also involve candles, positions, crystals or objects that are symbolic or metaphysical in their spells for different purposes and effects. Spells can also be cast non-verbally by more experienced witches by using different bodily movements, usually the movement of hands. Some witches can go beyond even this and cast spells purely through mental focus.
Position brewing: Witches can create positions, tonics and elixirs which have magical effects and properties.
Supernatural Sense: Witches have the clairvoyant ability to immediately sense if someone's supernatural just by being in their presence and can also sense the magical, physical, spiritual or psychological energy surrounding areas, people or objects. They sometimes call this their "Witch sense". This ability however can take time to manifest and understand.
Longevity: The practice of magic is believed to naturally extend a witch's life span, slowing down the ageing process causing witches to be able to live hundreds of years, maybe even thousands but this is unlikely unless one has gained enough skill to preform an immortality spell.
