After I got back to Rosie's house, I went up to my room and changed into a white t-shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans with dark brown cowboy boots. I looked around at the jackets and pulled on a dark blue jean jacket and fixed my hair. We were moving to Oklahoma and to be honest I was ready to leave New York and my past behind. I walked into Rosie's room, she looked up from her book to smile at me as I sat down on the edge of the bed.
"Whatcha readin?" I asked her.
"Romeo and Juliet."She said, smiling without looking up.
"Why? Don't you know how it ends?" I say, looking at her questionably. I never did like reading that much.
"Yeah but I still like the book." She states as she resumes her reading.
"Why? The main characters kick the bucket in the end." I ask, just trying to figure her out.
"Because its a good story." She defends.
"If you say so." I say laying down beside her.
"Why don't I read it to you." She suggests after a moment of silence.
"Hey, I am perfectly capable of reading on my own." I defend myself.
"I'm not saying your not, I just thought you might actually like me reading to you, my mistake." She said quietly.
"If you want to, knock yourself out, I'll try not to fall asleep." I say fake yawning.
"Why thank you." She says as she begin to read.
I thought it was going to bore me to tears
I was wrong.
Her words transported me to Italy on the beach, then to the party where Romeo met Juliet. The work was so well written I could actually see what Shakespeare was talking about in the back of my head.
"Boring you too much?" Rosie says in a teasing tone.
"I haven't dozed off yet." I say fake yawning again
Naturally, I would never admit I was wrong enough to tell her she was right about this whole reading being interesting thing.
I laid across her lap as he read, watching her expression change when Romeo and Juliet finally kiss and then get married soon after.
"I think that's enough reading for today." She says smiling and shutting the book
"Wanna go out and do somethin?" I ask standing up and stretching.
"Sure, we could always go out to eat or something." She suggests.
I smile at her and wrap my arm around her as we walked out the door and who is there, none other than her father.
Oh, crap.
