As we returned to school for the last half of our senior year Leah and I were both pretty busy. I was working almost full time at the hardware store saving money for our trip well Leah had to balance school, working at the diner and softball. She started workouts for spring softball and getting the team back together again.
The days turned to week and weeks to months and we both started to detail our trip more and more. It started to become real to us that we both wanted to go on this trip more then we initially realized. For us to do that, we needed to save as much money as we could now. That's when I told Uncle Trent about us going away. He basically gave me all of his shifts at the hardware store so I could save up enough money to go. He had his private security work he has been doing a lot more of so he insisted on me taking his shifts.
As the end of the school year rolled around Leah and I found out that we were accepted to the community college we applied to. I lied to my parents and told them that I was going to attend classes there in the fall. They were a bit disappointed that I didn't apply to better schools but I didn't want to tell them why yet. I know that they are going to try and stop me from going to Europe so that's why we aren't telling them until we have too.
After what happened during Christmas with Leah, her parents were a bit more understanding when it came to Leah not applying to other schools. They always thought that if she wanted to go to a bit school then they will figure out how to get her there.
As the end of the year started to get closer Leah and I finalized our plan for the trip. We didn't want to have ever second planned out but we did make a few lists of different countries we wanted to go to and about how much time we thought we could spend in each along with a list of different sightseeing spots we wanted to check out. How long our trip is will also depend on how much money we have saved. If things go according to plan we have enough money saved to spend the rest of the year in Europe.
But before we could leave we had a few things left to do here. For one, our senior prom. Last year Leah and I both decided to skip junior prom. I only just got home from treatment and Leah had a lot on her plate from recovering from her softball injury. So this year we are going all out for it. Leah and I both got fancy new dresses and Carmen rented us a limo to take us to the country club where the prom is taking place.
We are going with Leah's friends Spencer and Lexi. We are going to be sitting with them at the prom along with Shay, a friend of Leah's who she plays softball with. We were all meeting at Leah's house for pre-prom and I was actually really excited to get dressed up for the night. I made sure my hair and makeup were done before Kristin and Taylor drove us over to Leah's house for the party. I did a natural look for my makeup and left my hair down in waves.
When we got there I rushed upstairs to Leah's room and found her in the middle of finishing her makeup. I hung my dress bag on the back of her door and took a seat on her bed. We sat in comfortable silence as she finished getting ready. We could hear the music playing from outside as more people started to come over.
"Spencer and Lexi are already here in Lauren and Nina's room getting ready. We are actually going to be late if we don't change." Leah said and stood from her desk to face me.
"Okay, I'm going to need a hand with the zipper of mine." I said and pointed over to the bag.
"Only if you help me with mine." Leah said with a soft smile.
"Of course." I answered and hopped off the bed.
Before I could turn to the bag Leah grabbed my wrist and pulled me into her. She smiled and held me tight against her before she pressed a sweat kiss to my lips. It was nice and helped me level off some of my anxiety I had around tonight.
