"You suck." You told Haruhi, bitterly.
You both were looking at the score listing for your Algebra finals. Your first semester at Ouran were drawing to close, meaning it was exam time. Haruhi placed first, having a perfect score on her kimatsu-test* and you were third, getting a 96%.
"How did you get a perfect score?" You moaned, pouting at her. "Question 38 was so hard, everyone but you got it wrong! I thought you said you'd help me study!"
"Midori, I did. You got a great score, you're the third highest out of the entire first year." Haruhi then smiled smugly at you. "I couldn't help you with everything though, I still need to be at top of the class!"
You pushed at her arm. "You bitch." And she laughed.
You felt a tug at your sleeve and turned to find an elementary school boy who came to around your shoulder with brown hair and dark blue eyes.
"Um, Onee-san?" He called, his eyebrows furrowed.
"Yes?" You answered, smiling at the kid. Was he lost and needed to go back to his building?
"Could you point me in the direction of music room #3?" He asked.
You guffawed. "Wha-?! Why would you want to set foot in the there?!" He was only a child. Pure, innocent, untainted.
"Personal reasons." He stated simply, looking you dead in the eyes.
You glanced at Haruhi in confusion, who just shrugged.
"Well, we're going there right now. You can walk with us." You suggested.
The kid nodded, allowing you to lead the way. He followed a small distance behind you on your left and Haruhi walked next to you. You tried making small talk with the child.
"My first name's Midori, what's yours?" You offered. You were usually good with kids.
"My name's Shiro." He replied shortly.
"Okay, Shiro, what grade are you in?" You asked, hoping that he would try to be a bit more friendly to you.
"Fifth." He answered.
Really? One word? You asked yourself. I'm going to make this kid love me, just watch.
"Are you excited for the summer break?" You asked, extra smiley this time.
"Nope." He said, your face dropping immediately. What kid, no, student in general doesn't enjoy breaks from school? Does he not like his family or something?
"No? Do you prefer being in school?" You quirked an eyebrow at him.
"No." I give up.
Finally, arriving at music room #3, you saw Shiro look determinedly at the door and opened it for himself. What is with this kid?
The club's rose petals blew as always, but it startled Shiro so much that he stumble backwards and fell at your feet. You held out a hand to try to help him up, but he didn't even notice, staring in shock at the host club.
Yeah, I feel ya, kid.
"Welcome to the Ouran Host Club!"
The club was in Arabian cosplay, turbans, robes, the likes. Kyoya, for some reason, had a bowl of fruit in his hand. Maybe later I can nick some of those grapes.
The club noticed you weren't guests, but just an indebted honor student and an everyday free loader.
"Hey, Mi-chan!" The devil twins greeted you cheerfully and their eyes flickered to Haruhi. "You're late again Haruhi, god you're so irresponsible." They stuck at tongue out at her, to which Haruhi rolled her eyes in response.
