Episode 8: Can You Catch Speed Demon?

Another normal day in New York, I mean, as normal as it can be. A bank robbery is happening but there's a twist. The perpetrators are a group of metahumans. A group of five with strange abilities. One man wearing a red beanie has these disgusting white thorns that come out of arms that he can shoot out. A guy in a green jacket fires out green blasts of energy. A skinny black man with an oddly round head presses a finger to his temple and lifts up a desk, implying telekinetic powers. The last two seem to be a bit more than just generics and we'll get to them in a moment.

Metahumans are mostly humans that gain superpowers through either genetic tampering, drugs, formulas, or random acts of nature. Lately, the amount of metahumans made through substances has been on the rise. Black market merchants and other undesirable folk are passing that around like crack to the homeless. The powers are random as well. If there is an upside to any of this, the powers are generally very weak. You may get some energy blasts, flyers, teleporters, or even an elemental type. The really unique and high grade powers are above pretty much everyone's payroll. But they always come from somewhere....

So back to the remaining two crooks. One of them is wearing a leather jacket and has a red lollipop sticking out the side of his mouth. His name is The Blip, a one-off original character. His name is a reference to how the MCU called Thanos snapping half of everyone away as The Blip. His power is teleportation. The last guy is the most interesting of all. He's barely wearing any clothes at all and is covered in some bizarre yellow flame. This is Molten Man. If you've seen the title of this episode I'm sure you have several questions as to what's going on. Have patience.

Just like in the comics Molten Man's body is constantly burning, and can go upwards of 300 degrees fahrenheit. Now honestly that isn't very hot in comparison to pretty much any other heat or fire user, but I think we can forgive Lee and Kirby for not knowing just how convoluted powerscaling turned out. But for the sake of accuracy that's just what we're given. This version can go hotter but perhaps that might not be the best idea. Some cops open fire on him and the bullets don't get incinerated nor bounce off. Instead they actually hit their mark. The bullets suddenly just slide off his body.

Molten: "Now that wasn't very nice!"

He blasts fire into the cops. He doesn't kill them, but they receive some nasty burns that take them out. He grabs one of the bank tellers by the collar, and his clothes slowly start to burn.

Molten: "Take me to the safe now!"

The teller reluctantly shows the Molten man and his crew the safe. He makes the guy with energy blasts escort him back to the front. Now at the safe he puts his hands on the safe. One of the perks of constantly being covered in piss-colored fire is what he can do with his fingers. No I didn't mean THAT WAY sicko. His metallic fingers are sensitive enough to pick a lock. After a less than a minute he successfully picks the safe. The gang starts putting the moment in massive duffle bags. The Blip teleports the money bags out one by one. As the rest of the gang are starting to leave, something attacks the guy with the beanie to knock him to the floor. It's Peter. It's his first bank robbery and he's quite excited.

Peter: "Wow my first gangbang....wait a minute that came out wrong."

Telekentic: "The hell?"

Peter: "Look, I get anxious around new people, even scumbags like you."

Molten: "We'll help you with that."

Molten man throws fireballs at Peter who barely dodges them. The telekinetic man throws a chair at him with his mind.

Peter: "Who throws a chair?"

Molten: "Get out of here before you get hurt."

Peter: "Ditch the cash and you got a deal."
