Chapter 4: Walk

The last tone of the day, I was always happy to hear that bell. Josh sat on the other side of the room but once the bell rang he came towards where I was getting my stuff and waited. "You know you don't have to wait for me, you know where your locker is" I was still getting my stuff ready.
" I don't mind waiting, and I don't exactly want to leave, I'm still not sure where to go." I finally got my stuff and we started to walk. Someone was still in the class, I didn't notice really who it was but they came up behind me and rammed me into the wall.
" what the.." I looked to see who it was, one of my old friends. This put a frown on my face. "You okay? " josh looked at me, he must of seen my frown because he asked it again. " yeah I'm fine." I tried to get him to forget it..
We walked to our lockers, and didn't really have any more disturbances from anyone else, which was good I guess. We both opened our lockers and started to get what we needed, which was about the same, other than the class difference in our schedules.
" how far do you live from here? " it took me a second to notice he was talking, " oh! Umm.. Maybe like, 20 minutes from here, on Robinson street. Why do you ask? " he didn't look at me when I asked, but I still looked at him waiting for an answer.
"Just wondering, I think I live near there.. It's on umm.. What is it ... Oh! I think it's Luch? Not super sure" I nodded and thought of where that was, it was pretty close.. Again.. Ironic.
" yeah that's about 5 blocks away from my street" that put a smile on his face " cool! We can walk to school together. If that's okay with you" I smiled as I nodded. "Yeah it's perfectly fine. I think it will be nice having company for once"
I hadn't noticed, but we were already outside and had been walking for a good couple minutes, almost half way to our houses. Hmm, I must of really been distracted. My thoughts were interrupted by some honking coming from behind us.
" Fucking loser!" Some guy screamed as they passed. They didn't throw anything which surprised me which usually happened when someone screamed at me while I walked. " that was rude." Josh face had this type of disgust on it.
To that I sighed.
He must of caught it because right away he tried to distract me " so, do you have a Skype? And your head looks a lot better than it did, I think the blood is dried up now" he stopped in front of me and tried getting the dried blood off my forehead.
First he tried with his shirt, exposing his bare stomach. I looked at it for a couple seconds, you could see the starting outline of his muscles or as others would say a six-pack.
Usually I never liked buff, chiseled featured, muscular guys. I usually liked the guys that were skinny,or guys with a bit of pudge, but still had the confidence to show their chests in public.
Josh. Now he was pretty much in between, which actually was really attractive.
He must of caught me looking, because a smile crossed his face. With his free hand he also touched the bottom of my chin and lifted it so he could see what he was doing. I didn't protest to him moving my face, I just stared into his green eyes. God damn those eyes.
"You didn't answer my question. Do you have Skype?" I blinked a couple times to get out of the trance of his eyes and answer the question. " yeah I do, did you want it?" He nodded.
"Please don't mind this, but I have to spit on my fingers to get that off. I got most of it, but some won't come off." He was like my little nurse or something, it was cute. " go right ahead, we have all the time in the world" With that he smiled.
He rubbed his fingers across where I was hit, it hurt, but I didn't mention that to him. When he was finished, he grabbed the bottom of his shirt again and whipped my forehead again. " there. All better." He smiled at it, then we kept walking.
It actually shocked me that I had just met him earlier that day, and we were already somewhat close. I didn't want to lose him, and that was a new fear I had. I had lost so many people in my life that it seemed that I just might lose him too. This though brought another frown to my face, I looked down at the ground hoping Josh wouldn't see.
--
" this is your street" I pointed to it, he stopped and didn't move. Which was weird. " umm, aren't you going to go home?" He just stood staring down the road, for maybe a good couple seconds when he finally turned to me " sorry, what did you say?" I rolled my eyes and repeated myself.
"Oh, yeah. You didn't give me your Skype" oh yeah forgot about that " oh sorry, hold on I'll et a piece of paper" I dropped my bag onto the ground, moving the books I had around, I ripped a piece of paper out of one of my binder, not sure really where I was ripping from, I ended up grabbing half a piece of blank paper. I grabbed a pen from my pencil case, then made the motion for josh to turn around. He did so and I wrote on his back with the paper my Skype.
"Here you go." I handed him the half paper, he chuckled "okay, I'll add you later"
"Okay" I gave him a small smile.
"Okay, bye" josh then started to walk down the road,
"Bye" I gave another small smile, then turned to where my house was headed. I pulled out my iPod and hit shuffle to my music to find 'don't you ever forget about me by sleeping with sirens' come on.
I walked for a little but more, till I approached my house. My moms car wasn't in the drive way, but it usually never is. She's pretty much a work a holic and well, the only one ever home is her boyfriend who I just hate desperately. As I walked up the steps to the house, some were broken and had grass or whatever growing threw the crack, and as I walked the bushes that smelled not bad, brushed against my arm.
I opened the door to the front room where we keep our jackets and our shoes. Another thing my moms a nut about, she hates when people walked in with shoes or tracked any type of dirty into the house, so she had the front room made about a year after we moved here because people would come over and not take off their shoes.
I kicked off my shoes and kept walking, passing the front bathroom and heading right for the stairs. To the opposed side of the stairs was the living room, which was were the boyfriend was. I could feel his eyes staring at me as I walked up the steps.
I reached the top, and headed for my room when someone grabbed my right hand and pulled it. I turned around to find him staring at me. " WHAT!" I screamed. I knew he was like a foot away from me and I really didn't need to yell, but I didn't care. I hated his guts. I pulled out one of my headphones to hear what useless words he had to tell me.
" your moms not coming home till tomorrow morning, so were alone tonight." That gave me shivers, " k" I put my headphone back in and headed right to my room.
He didn't stop me, which made me happy.
