The first thing Sara was aware of was she wasn’t on the ground but on silk sheets with a warm blanket over her body. Secondly she found that when she opened her eyes she got to see a dark green ceiling.
Slowly sitting up the young wolf took in her surroundings while trying to figure out where she was. The room was a deep forest green with pictures of people hanging everywhere. Off to her right sat a red wood dresser and beside the bed was a matching nightstand. To her left was three doors, one that was obviously a closet and the other two she didn’t know. The one nearest to the closet was white and the other was black.
Before she could investigate someone knocked on the door, scaring her back against the headboard. In entered the alpha, beta and the doctor if her nose was right. “Easy little one.” The alpha soothed, “Joe needs to check up on you, can you let him do that?” warily watching the older man walk towards her she held still.
If anything went wrong she could always shift and run. Joe set his black bag on the edge of the bed and slowly pulled a bunch of stuff out. “What I need to do is take a bit of your blood so we can make sure you’re healthy enough without medication. Then I’ll give you a check up before letting have a pill. The pill will help you gain weight. I am afraid that if you don’t start gaining any soon you might collapse into a coma.”
Nodding her head Sara let him slide the needle into her skin, still eyeing the men standing by the door just in case. Within seconds he was capping the blood he had drawn and was asking her to face the alpha and beta so he could check her breathing.
The alpha was silently watching her with stone like eyes. The beta however seemed to have more energy than he could contain. Shifting around and muttering about something she slowly found him funny and different from her last beta. Though he wasn’t coming near her anytime soon is she had any say in the matter she would deal with him from afar.
“There, all done.” Watching carefully as Joe pulled a small plastic container out of his bag and place it on the nightstand she cocked her head, “These are the pills, I want you to take one before you eat the meal Betty is bring you. Okay?”
Nodding her head Sara pulled the blanket closer to her body, suddenly feeling cold. “Go ahead and relax. Betty still has to fix the food.” The alpha murmured, opening the door to let the beta and doctor out. But he didn’t leave with them. Instead he went through the black door and didn’t come back out until someone knocked on the door.
Sara brought the blanket closer to her body as she prepared to run. When the alpha- Justin. Her wolf whispered weakly. When Justin opened the door a young female came in holding a silver tray. “Is she ready to eat?”
“Yeah, go on in and help her.” The fairly round woman came up to the side of the bed and Sara had to force herself to stay still.
“Hi, my name is Betty.” She offered a hand but when Sara didn’t take it she turned to glare at Justin, “Well, go get your work done! I can take care of her by myself.” The alpha growled but stalked out of the room and into the one he had just come from.
“Y-You aren’t I-in trouble for t-talking to him like t-that?” She stuttered. Ivy green eyes met her own.
“No, my mate is his beta. That and he wouldn’t dare harm a hair on my head if he wants to get near you.”
Confused and slightly scared she tried to make her voice stop stuttering, “W-why me? I’m n-nothing special.”
Betty slid onto the bed so she was sitting cross-legged with the tray in her lap. “You really don’t know? He’s your mate little one.”
An over whelming urge to run surged up inside Sara at those words. So she went with it and darted from the room. “Alpha!” She hear Betty shout just as she hit the stairway. Once she hit the bottom floor Sara turned her head slightly to see Justin on her heels.
Yelping she made a sharp turn down a hallway, following the scent of fresh air. If she could make it outside she could shift and-. A large muscular arm wrapped around her midsection, being careful of her rib area as it hauled her back against a warm chest, “Easy little one. Calm down, no one will hurt you here.”
Fear held her tongue but also made her struggle more against his hold. Justin hooked a arm under her knees and scooped her up bridal style before heading back to the room she had woken up in. “Can you tell me what scared you? Maybe I can fix it.”
Betty suddenly appeared in her line of sight making her whine to the older female. “She ran when I told her about you guys being mates. I’m not sure what that meant to her but I can assure you that she feels threatened by it.”
“Is this true little one?” he asked, setting her on her bed but never really letting her go.
“L-let me go…p-please!” Sara begged, struggling in his arms until she could get away from him. Betty came up behind her and made soft shushing sounds in her ear.
“Sh…Alpha I think it’s best if you let her recover more than a day before you ask for her stories.” Turning around to press her body closer to the nice woman she watched as Justin turned on his heel and left the room entirely, shutting the door with a soft click. “Come on, let’s get you some food in that belly.”
