The only thing she knew of was that her body felt odd. Like she had been floating on water for too long and couldn’t make her body stop recreating the feeling on the waves lapping against her skin. But it was different also.
“I want the red one mama!” A small voice cried out.
“No dear, you can’t have the red one.”
“Why not mama?”
“Because it is the flower of life, it keeps this tree alive little one. If we were to pick it then the tree might die.”
“I don’t want it to die. Mama, are there red people out there? People that keep others alive?”
“Yes dear, yes there are.”
Sara opened her eyes to see a darkly tanned female leaning over her body with a blanket in her hands. Faster than the female could react she was racing for the door and franticly sniffing the air for Justin. He wouldn’t leave her in a house full of unknown people, right?
Right on cue he appeared in her path, wrapping his strong warm arms around her waist and holding her against his body until she had calmed enough to stutter out, “T-that lady…w-who is she?”
“That’s Joe’s assistant, Naomi. She comes and goes from time to time but is practically harmless.” Not liking the sound of almost harmless she relaxed back against him, letting Justin carry her back into the living room she had just come from.
Naomi sat on the couch with a frown marring her features. “What’s up with her? I’ve never seen a female run that fast form anyone.”
“Sara is a bit frightened by new people. She didn’t have enough time to get to know you before…”
“Don’t say it, Justin.” Joe growled as he walked in holding a plate of food and a glass of milk. “You will only get upset and that will make Sara upset too. Relax and we will deal with pack matters another time.” Joe set the full plate down on the coffee table and handed her the glass of milk. “Take your pill before eating and tonight you can go home.”
Nodding Sara felt Justin sit on the couch- shooing Naomi out of the way- his large hands coming around to help her hold the plate. She hadn’t realized that at the time her left arm was in a bulky cast. "After you passed out i brought you here so Joe could fix you up. He says if you don't move around too much it should heal in a day or so. Your wolf abilities are coming back."

After Sara had eaten and Justin ushered her into a car, his form tense telling her that something was wrong. The whole drive home she stayed put against the door, watching him from afar. His hands gripped the wheel tightly even when the car came to a stop. “Tell me, Sara. Who was in the room with you?”
Oh god...Ron...his scent must have been all over her. “R-Ron-”
“Who is it? Someone from your old pack?” she nodded and his knuckles grew white. “They won't get to you again, Sara. I promise you I won't let them hurt you again.” smiling gently Sara reached out with her good hand and touched his bristled jaw.
“I know. I trust you.” Justin's blue eyes were glowing slightly.
“Mine...?” with a nod and a bit of pushing from Whisper she crawled over and into his lap, letting the warm and safe feeling wash over her as he wrapped his strong arms around her small form.

“She must pay!”
“She will learn what I means to run from her owners!”
“Alpha, we know where she is. Can we start the game?”
Red eyes glowed in the darkness of the forest and white teeth gleamed as they were flashed at the blood thirsty wolves, “I think it is time our game began. Go greet our little slut's mate and give him the warning and the first clue.” with a chuckle the wolves disappeared into the shadows and the red eyes faded away.
