(The Benedict safe house)

Vince frowned deeply as he stared at the calendar “what's wrong Dad?” Bianca walked in on her dad frowning while staring at the paper.

“The blood moon is in two weeks?” He said grimly and Bianca signed “Dad,I told you not to worry, Ricky and I are already working on the next sacrifice” she mumbled.

“The problem isn't finding people,many people with the ongoing war had something else growing deep within,hope,the lord of the darkness hates that, we have to make sure the sacrifice is not tainted and even or purer resentment than Ethan” Vince said.

“How about Roy or Roland? Those two…. They love each other so much, surely a seed of resentment will sprout if one of them die” Bianca suddenly grinned wickedly.

“Get it done” was all Vince said before leaving the room.

Bianca nodded and watched him go. She was present for the ritual,she had gained the benefit and tested the abilities of being powerful and nearly immortal. It's intoxicating, she's ready to plunge the world into resentment just to keep enjoying that. The ongoing war didn't freak her in the least.

“This Benedict family is full of sick psycho Roland! Do you remember Ethan from  six months ago? The battered body that we later threw away was him! That bitch Bianca simply said they took him to teach him some lesson right? Nope! He was murdered in that building that we took him to”Roy said angrily and Roland frowned.

“Roy,you and I both knew something good would never come out of taking that boy right? Why are you so surprised it was his body we later dumped rather than whatever Miss Bianca has said?” Roland looks genuinely confused at Roy's rant.

The boy was long dead,how long was it already? Six months or more? He had even forgotten they dumped anybody and now Roy is suddenly going off about a body they had dumped.

That was not their first time of dumping a body for the Benedict family so why was Roy so and this time around?

“Roland…. listen,that boy,he wasn't just murdered,I made a few investigations last month during the war because I pinned two together,how could the war break off just a few days after his death?! And guess what I found… he was a sacrifice which means whatever started this war was indirectly the Benedict family's doings!”

It was Roy's turn to be slightly surprised,he and Roland had been working with the Benedict family for  close to fifteen years now and he had knew about their strange obsession with the spiritual world,he had thought at most they are just filled with resentment towards all the past war with these beings but this is such a twist.

Unknown to these two, whatever it was they had discussed,a sleeping Ricky who happened to be just next door had heard it all,his first reaction thought was to go to them but he suddenly stopped and went to find Bianca instead.

“Really? That's so twisted,how could they lie like that? We're keeping them safe here and they are talking about such things?” Bianca had a sad look as she sighed.

“Hey, don't be sad,I know they are liars,I was going to rush to punch them…. But you know I'm not strong enough, “ he sighed.

“Ricky,you love me right?” Bianca asked and he nodded eagerly “good,as long as you do, it's ok…it's ok” she smiled and hugged him which Ricky immediately returned while consoling her,he wouldn't be doing this if he had seen the disgust on her face when he hugged her back.

{Two week later}

Roland was staring blankly at the gaping and bleeding wound on Roy's chest,he was dumbfounded and he slowly looked up at Ricky who was holding a dagger.

“I didn't!! He… he attacked me.. I was defending myself! He…stop…don't move close” he held the dagger threateningly towards Roland.

Roland was staring at him with hatred as he moved closer towards him “you bastard! You…killed Roy!” He screamed and rushed at him,it was at this moment that Bianca came in and took Ricky from the Crazed man.

“What do you think you are doing?! How dare you attack my boyfriend” she screeched.

“He killed Roy,” Roland said. “so, he's my boyfriend. What if he kills Roy, Roy is just the Benedict family's servant,how dare you try to avenge him by hurting my boyfriend? You are crazy! His life is worthless ok,worth less than my boyfriend's life, there's a war in the first place,he would be dead at some point,be glad my babe killed him so easily, he's save from future torture when he get caught by the spiritual realm” she had deliberately chosen her words,each ones degrading the dead Roy and each one showing the perfect facade of a spoilt brat that doesn't care about Roy's life and death.

Each word hit Roland harder than the other and his hatred grew. Bianca could see the black air growing around him,it was a sign of resentment and she was glad,she just needed to push him a bit harder and he would be the perfect sacrificial lamb.

“Look Roland, I know you liked Roy,or loved,I don't care,there are many men out there,more handsome than him,you will soon forget about him,you can't just go crazy over a worthless corpse, killing Ricky won't bring him back,ok?” She pretended to finally care a little.

“Yes, he's worthless,if he hadn't attacked me,he wouldn't have died,he deserves more than death for daring to attack me,just throw his corpse out of here and clean the blood” Ricky finally gained some momentum when he saw Bianca defending him so eagerly.

Bianca would have gladly given him a thumb up for such words because she could see the darkness growing like thick fog with each of Ricky's words,the lamb is ready.

Roland suddenly launched at Ricky,his hands right against his neck,”bastard!!!” He grabbed and squeezed harder until a loud crack was heard as he snapped Ricky's neck.

“Perfect!” Bianca screeched happily the moment Ricky died and laughed crazily “perfect!” She added once again.

“It's the blood moon tonight ... .mom” Elena signed as she saw her mom staring out the window once again.

“Yes, Ethan has been gone for two blood moons now, surprisingly this blood moon came faster than normal, probably because of the war” the woman smiled sadly.

The first blood moon a few months ago,she didn't manage to see her beloved son and now a second blood moon, she's still coming to terms with the fact that he's probably gone forever,worse, he's still here but it will never be him again.

The war had not been easy on both mother and daughter,they were low on supplies but Bryan would visit them once every two months to restock the whole mansion from them and would be gone just as he had arrived.

Elena would look at him hoping he would say something but she was met with silence each time, she knew how hard it must be for him, he's after all one of the dispatch warriors to the Frontline and yet he would still drop by to give them food.

“Mom,this is the last time I'll be asking this, who's Dad exactly?” she frowned as she asked. She had been trying to get this information out of her mom for months now but no response.

“Your dad…. He's the anchor of the king of darkness…. he's not a demon tho, he's a human,or so I thought “ the woman sighed.

“I later found out he was a lab experiment,not exactly,he used to be a half human half demon,those hybrids are considered the lowest of the ranks but his demon father just happened to be one of the seven sins, crazy right? The deadly sin is none other than greed… your father was filled with resentment,he could have been a high ranking demon but he just had to be abandoned by his father and his mother just had to be human,so he became the devil's anchor to earth once in a while, currently,he was captured as a lab experiment and since then,I don't know anything about him” the woman had intentionally left out most of the story but she had also mentioned the most important parts. Elena was thrown into a deeper confusion.

So,does that mean her father is basically a demon? And does that make her an hybrid as well and most importantly,her father had been the reason Ethan they knew is now basically the devil himself?
