AJ's initial reaction was to burst out laughing, close the door and finally get herself some water. She was truly parched, not to mention still slightly dizzy thanks to her episode a few minutes ago. But as she was chugging her water bottle, she thought about the man. What was his business? Why would a random man, one as snappy as him, show up at her house and claim to be a genie..if he wasn't one?
Because genie's don't exist, dumbass.
Well, the possibility of my sister not existing wasn't possible before today, now was it?
She felt satisfied when her conscious didn't have anything to say, and realized a moment later she was arguing with herself . She finished the water bottle and made the split second decision to go back to the door and see if the man was still there. If he wasn't who he said he was, she'd laugh about it later. Hopefully, there was a later and he wasn't sent to kill her. She opened the door surprised and relieved to find the man still standing there, chilling on the steps. His arms were behind him, providing support for his upper body as he leaned back casually and comfortably.
"Ready to let me in, now?" he asked. She crossed her arms, annoyed with herself she decided to give him a chance.
"Not yet. We're gonna play a game called "Prove to me you're really a genie or I'm calling the police." Ever heard of it?" He chuckled at her words.
"Surprisingly, yes. Think of something and I'll tell you what it is."
Instantly a large fry from McDonald's popped into her mind. Could you blame her? It was 7 in the morning, and she was hungry as hell.
"McDonald's large fry. You haven't eaten yet?"
How the hell does he do that?
"Do something else, something only a genie could do." she demanded.
He smirked and stood up, towering over her.
"Don't blink." he said, just before snapping his fingers and literally disappearing. She had followed his orders and didn't blink, in fact her eyes never left his. But she still hadn't seen anything other than him suddenly disappearing. One moment he was there and the next she was staring at the house across the street. There was no smoke, no magical sparkles either he was just..gone.
"You coming in? It's pretty chilly out there." a voice behind her said, causing her to jump nearly a foot in the air. Her eyes widened when she saw the same man who just disappeared before her standing in her doorway. She picked up her jaw and nodded her head, still in shock, but managed to walk in behind him and close the door.
They were seated on the leather couches sat across from each other, the man sat back with his right ankle over his knee. She on the other hand was sat up, her back as straight as a pole and her knee constantly bouncing up and down. The gears in her mind were working so fast, they were probably emitting smoke by now. She figured episode #2 probably wasn't too far away.
"Chill, niña." the man, let's call him Genie for now, says, pulling AJ from her trance. "I'm sure you're wondering what the hell is going on, right? Why your sister seems to cease to exist, why your house looks like this and who the fine specimen in those photo albums is, am I wrong?" She thought about his words for a second before meekly nodding her head.
"For starters, I'm Angelo, and yes I am a genie." No, really? I couldn't tell by how you disappeared right in front of my fucking eyes! Am I sure I'm awake? She pinched herself just to be sure, wincing in pain. Definitely awake.
"Save the sarcasm. Anyway, remember when you wished your parents never had your sister?" She nodded in shame. "Well, my dear, you sure weren't careful with what you wished for, and now you got it. In this reality, your sister doesn't exist. There is no Parker Montgomery. And because of that, a lot of things are different." he explained. "Your house looks like this, beautiful might I add, because your parents had a lot more money since you're the only child they had to take care of. That guy in the photo albums and that you talked to earlier? His name's Giovanni Palmieri. That's your best friend since elementary school. You didn't have your sister, so he was basically a replacement for her growing up." She didn't know if it made sense or if she just desperately needed something to believe in at the moment. She went with both.
