School had been the same the next day, and she could safely say she was more than ready for the week to be over. Gio had been waiting for her when she walked out of the school, and she quickly got into his Jeep before anybody - Wes specifically - could spot her and try and talk to her. Gio had carefully reversed out of his parking spot and quickly drove out of the school's lot, per AJ's request.

"Mom's been asking about you."

AJ looked up from Gio's phone and up at him in surprise. She had been scrolling through his Spotify (his music taste was amazing might she add) trying to find another song to play.

"What's she been saying?" she asked, clicking on an old Kanye West song from about 2007. Still good nonetheless.

"Just that she hasn't seen you in a while. She wanted you over for dinner tonight, but I told her you couldn't." Oh, thank god. Maybe she could avoid meeting his parents until her two weeks were up. She breathed out a sigh of relief that she'd thought was discreet, but apparently not.

"I know, she can be overbearing, huh?" he said, chuckling. AJ smiled and nodded her head even though she had no idea what he was talking about. "You can come over now if you don't wanna go home yet. She's gonna be at work for a while, she has the afternoon shift at the hospital. Ren should be home, though."

"I don't mind, it's up to you." she said.

"My house it is."

After a 10 minute car ride, 13 if you wanna get specific, AJ and Gio had pulled up to a beautiful brown brick house. It wasn't big, but it wasn't small either. AJ thought it was just the right size. Gio pulled into the parking space in front of the second garage, the space in front of the first one empty. She assumed that's where his mother's car was usually parked.

Once they'd gotten inside, the cutest little ivory pomeranian husky scampered towards them, its tail wagging back and forth. AJ's jaw dropped and her eyes widened.

"Oh my god!"

Gio swore under his breath, quickly closing the door and moving in front of AJ to pick up the puppy.

"Sorry, J, I told Ren to put her away when he got home. Kid doesn't listen for shit." Gio said. AJ's eyebrows scrunched together in confusion. Why would he do that?

"No, don't do that!" AJ stood in front of Gio to scratch the back of the puppy's ears. She couldn't believe how adorable his dog was. AJ discreetly checked the name tag, beneath the puppy's thick snow white fur, smiling when she saw how suitable the puppy's name was. "You are so cute, Winter!" she cooed.

Gio was watching the whole encounter with narrowed eyebrows and curious eyes. AJ was usually scared shitless, to the point where she'd nearly jumped 10 feet when Winter merely brushed against her leg. Sure, she felt guilty that Winter always had to go outside while she was there, but this was a whole new degree of guilt. It was like she was a whole new person.

"Hey, AJ!"

Both AJ and Gio's heads snapped up to see Ren at the end of the hall, advancing towards them with a grin on his face. Ren, short for Lorenzo, was Gio's 14 year old little brother. They shared most of the same features, but instead of their mother's honey colored eyes, Ren had inherited their father's indigo blue eyes.
