Ok, that would definitely explain the glares I've been getting all day.

"Of course not, I'm just kidding!" she said smoothly, playfully pushing his arm to make herself more believable. And to get him off her, too; she wasn't a touchy feely kind of person. "I'm doing good, a little out of sorts, though."

"Good, I'm glad." he said. The air between them grew silent and awkward. He stared down at her, his eyes full of admiration, and she felt extremely uncomfortable. So, she did the first thing that came to mind.

"I have to change my tampon, be right back!" she blurted. She didn't wait for him to respond before she was booking it out the doors of the school.  AJ wasn't even on her period, but she'd worry about the aftermaths later. She just needed to get away from that suffocatingly awkward situation.

Her eyes scanned the lot for Gio's Jeep and when she spotted it, she began speed walking towards it. He was parked towards the back of the parking lot, sitting on his hood while playing on his phone as he waited for her.

"Gio!" she yelled. At first, he looked up disinterested and back down at his phone, prepared to ignore whoever was shouting his name. But when he realized it was AJ his head snapped back up and held her gaze. He hopped off his hood and strolled towards her, both of them meeting each other in the middle.

"Hey, you ready to go?" he asked and she hid her surprise when he leaned forward to give her a hug. She felt the hard muscles of his biceps on her cheek and the heat of his body emitting to hers from the simple gesture and wrapped an arm around his torso. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and she smiled. For a moment, she'd almost forgotten why she was there, but when she did, she pulled away quickly, moving back to put a few feet between them.

"I have a boyfriend." she blurted. But it wasn't the kind of statement to tell him to back off, or watch himself. It was more of a 'I can't believe this, what the fuck' kind of statement. Although, she had a feeling he wasn't aware of that by how his body straightened, obviously tense. His jaw was clenched tightly and he went from being happy to see her to looking beyond pissed.

"Yeah. You do." he said in a clipped tone.

"No! Uh, I didn't mean it like.." she stopped herself, not knowing what else to say. She couldn't exactly talk to him about the topic of how she had no clue she'd had a boyfriend, right? Why had she even come out here? What was she expecting to happen? AJ regretted it, because now the tension was thick and the silence was awkward.

"Then how did you mean it?" he asked, shoving his hands into the pockets of his hoodie. He took his answer in the form of silence when she didn't respond and chuckled dryly. "Right. Well, I'm gonna go. Maybe you can catch a ride with Weasel." he said dismissively, walking backwards towards his truck. She wanted to correct him, but there was no need. She had a feeling he already knew what his name was. She nodded and waved, turning on her heel and walking back into the school. A voice at the back of her head told her the reason for his sudden behavior change, but she pushed it away.

Wesley was still waiting where she left him before she quite literally ran away from him. He was casually leaned against her locker, his ankles crossed and his phone in his hand. For some reason, it annoyed her. She cleared her throat to make her presence known and he looked up and smiled once he saw her standing in front of him.
