Chapter 8

"What are you doing here?" I asked him. His blue eyes turn into slits as he glares at me.
I don't back down  like I usually did.. He can't hurt me anymore. I'm not powerless anymore.

"You got balls now kid? I'll show you to disrespect me!"

He lifts his arms and holds his hands out. I knew what was coming next. Fire filled his hands and he smirked. I hold my breath as he pulls back and throws the flames at me.

I heard Reese curse and hold his palms out as if to ward the fire off. I gasp when mist comes out of his hands cooling the fire midway. I turn to him in shock. I think we just discovered his powers. He... well I'm not sure exactly but it's connected to ice and freezing. He seemed to be as shocked as I was. And so was Drew.

"What the fuck!" We just stared at him. "This is not supposed to happen. You shouldn't have powers. None of you are!"

Suddenly a ball of fire came at me. This time Reese couldn't help. It came too fast. I flew back with the force it hit me. I closed my eyes waiting for the burning sensation it's supposed to bring. I open my eyes when nothing happened. I frown and look down at my body. It's not on flames alright but it's glowing orange.

"What the fuck!" Drew exclaimed and I roll my eyes. He seems to say that a lot.

I look up as two people join us in the hallway. She called him. After my rant she still went ahead and called him. I could feel myself burning in anger. I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Calm down. Remember what happened the last time you got angry. You don't want to give these assholes more power, do you?" Reese whispered in my ear.
Of course not. I would never in my right mind give them more power to hurt me. I take deep breaths to calm myself and the glowing stops as I calm down. I put on a blank expression and face my father.

"Hello Mr. Mikael,"

"Son, what's with all the formalities," he moved to hug me but I moved back.

"I'm sorry sir. Thank you for taking care of me but you don't have to pretend I'm your son, he is," I gesture at Drew.

"What are you on about boy. I'm your father, you have my last name don't you?"

Was he serious. I'll blame it on his old age. "No I don't. Your last name is Mikael. My last name is Burton. So I'll see you around." I turn to leave and hear him curse. Guess he remembered. Well I don't care. I leave the room with Reese at my side. It felt really good standing up for myself.
