Divergent

Tris Pov

Its been a week since the incident and I'm finally able to fully walk on my leg but it still hurts. I got to keep my spot in first place since everyone knows I'm already the best at fighting.

Tonight is also the Dauntless Games. This is when all the initiates get to play capture the flag. I've never been able to play it since only initiates and trainers can play it but Zekey says it's really fun.

"What do you want to do today Tris?" Uri asks me since we have the day off.

"Ummm... I really feel like throwing knives today. How about you?" I ask.

"Sure lets go." he says and turns around and i jump on his back as we race off. Once we get there he sets me down and I grab four knives to put in my pant pockets and three for in my hand.

"You go first." I say to Uri.

He gets into position and he throws his first knife and it lands in the red but not dead center.

He looks at me and then I take my position.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Throw.

The blade hits dead center and I smile.

Time Lapse

We throw knives until Four comes in.

"Hey guys." He says.

"Hey Four" Uriah and I say in unison.

"Can I talk to the both of you for a second?" He asks and looks around.

"Sure. What's up?" Uriah says.

"Follow me. We need to go somewhere private." He says and starts walking off.

"No one is in here though." I call out but he ignores me and keeps walking. I shrug and Uriah and I follow him.

It takes a bit to realize where we are going. To Four's apartment. Once we get to the door, he pulls a key out of his pocket and unlocks the door with a click. The door opens and he lets us in first and once I'm through the door he closes it and we go sit on the couch where we see Zeke.

"What did you want to talk to us about?" Uriah asks looking at Four.

"Zeke here told me that you two were Divergent." He starts and I shoot Zeke a look. If he can't trust me dating Four then how should he trust him with our secret that could get us killed.

"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone. Im Divergent also and Im going to help you get through this." he starts.

"Tomorrow is the first day of stage 2. Im sure you've heard from Zeke about what happens then right?"

We nod.

"You will be going into your fears but unlike everyone else, you will be aware that it is all a simulation. Although you want to try and cheat on getting out, you have to think like a Dauntless in order to get out. Understand?"

"Yea but whats so bad about being aware during simulations?" I ask curiously.

"Everyone is told to believe that Divergents are bad and evil. Our minds work different than people like Zeke."

"Hey!" Zeke exclaims and we laugh.

"During your training, I will be monitoring your test so I can help you get through it like a Dauntless. But for your Final Test, everyone will be in there watching you. That is where most Divergents are caught."

"Okay so we will learn how to be normal during our practice and during the final test if we show any signs of being divergent then we will die." Uriah says.

"You guys aren't going to die. Four and I will make sure you are ready for the test even if you have to go into your fears more." Zeke says.

"Great." I reply. (Note the sarcasm).

"Why don't you two go get some rest. I want only the best on my winning team." Four says and smiles.

"I'm so jealous. I want to go play capture the flag." Zeke complains.

I laugh and stand up. "No Zekey. You're too old to be running around."

"What?! I'm the same age as Four and he's going"

"But who got third place huh?" Zeke looks mad so I run out of the room laughing and hide behind Uri and I's secret corner waiting for him.

I hear feet pounding against the cement and I see Uriah appear.

"Wow. You sure made Zeke mad." He says laughing.

"I try" I say and laugh with him.

"We should go to the dorms so we have enough energy to win tonight."

"Only if we are on the same team." I say and give him an evil glare.

"Well if we aren't on the same team then you better kiss your chances of winning goodbye." Uri says and blows a kiss to me.

"Keep dreaming" I say.

Then we walk back to the dorms to get ready for tonight.

A/N

Sorry its taken me so long to update this story. I have been so busy with back to school but I've been sick the past few days so I was able to write this chapter and I will write a whole bunch this weekend if I can so I don't have to worry about writing during the week. Please be patient and I promise I will update more.
