Someone was arriving upstairs, probably to unlock the door hearing Karan's cries.
Dashing into her room, Khushi closed the door, pulled the blanket out and sprang into the cushioning mass. Pressing a pillow against her chest, she closed her eyes tight while hearing Karan outside complain how he might have died in the cold toilet without his pants on.
The other though silent, enduring his pugnacity till the former descended downstairs.
She heard door creak open. The gait was enough to let Khushi know who had arrived.
"Khushi?" Badri called, approaching the window and the other end of the room.
A lump of giggles moved under the blanket. A devious smile spread on Badri's face. Sitting on the bedside and collecting his feet up, he said loudly,
"Hmmmmmmmmmmm! This room looks so empty!"
The lump stopped moving.
"Where did this BLANKET come from? I don't remember keeping it here!" He grabbed her ankle, "What's this underneath?!"
A hand grabbed her ankle, pausing for a moment as if expecting a reaction. Before she could move, he started tickling her foot furiously. Her toes began to twitch.
Khushi bit her pillow to stop, snorting with tears.
"Tujhe kya laga?" Badri chuckled, "That I won't know you're fake sleeping?!"
"YEOOOOWWWWWWWHHHHHH STOP!" Khushi roared out, threw the pillow towards his face and broke away from his grasp. The blanket flew in the air; she grabbed its edge, rolled it into makeshift boxing gloves and began punching his back furiously.
"Arre stop!" Badri shielded himself.
"INTRUDER INTRUDER OVER AND OUT!"
The blanket loosened, and before she could collect it, Badri lifted her up on his back upside down and began spinning in circles. Her hands spun in the air, till she arched up and smacked his head,
"Let me go douchebag!"
"Not so easily!"
"I'm gonna break your bones!"
"Woh chhote chhote hatho sey? You're kidding me!"
"CHHOTE HATH KISKO BOLA BEY?!"
Badri let her fall on the bed, watching her roll back and end with a sitting position. Several corners around her fingernails were red.
Khushi raised an eyebrow and stared on.
"Well..."
"Hmph!" She looked away.
"Hey!"
"Not listening"
"WHY?!"
"I don't talk to my enemies"
Badri laughed at her statement and said, "Okay now... look at me"
She moved a little to face him, her arms still crossed with unshakable anger.
"Forget it"
"Forget WHAT?"
"That... incident back then" Badri stared at the walls "Forget it"
"Sergeant Khushi never forgets!"
"Aw man I was in a bad mood!" he scratched his neck, "My brain really fused the moment... that...so..."
The outside gloom shuddered behind the blinds.
"Mood swings huh?" Khushi replied grumpily, "And these are the people who get to vote?!"
