Backing off farther behind, the mob eyed down at the man fallen below their feet. Confused convulsions strangling their bodies, till just then, as if from realization, they dissipated.
Folded strangely across the grass, Harish's back darkened and poured over the blades of grass.
"M...mamu?" Mukesh mumbled.
The flickering sky tore down the view, bringing along the collapsing, multidunous pixels of the invisible veil that guarded the playground.
"Muk..." he coughed blood.
Running towards him, Ganesh turned him on his back, held his head and patted his soaking cheek, breathing frantically, "M-mama!"
He fell next to him; void of emotion.
"N-nahi-" Ganesh's voice broke, "Y-you said we'd go home together! Wake up! Please..."
A noiseless sound broke out from Mukesh's throat. Parting back his uncle's hair who dangled on the fine thread of existence.
Breaking into a shrill cry, he buried his face into his into his slowing heartbeat. The void ate up the grey sky, revealing a place where nothing stayed, nothing returned.
"Muk..."
He lifted his head to look at him.
"Galat jagah ruk raha tu..." Harish whispered, holding their hands weakly, "Don't become... each other's punishment"
With that last, final breathe, he closed his eyes, his fingers falling off their warm, desperate grasp.
The mob began approaching closer.
Just then, as if like the dimension was caving into their ears, Mukesh and Ganesh heard a ruthless engine cough awake. The sound tore through the space like a beast clearing it's throat.
The mob stopped, growing very still.
Appearing in front of them, Ramesh yanked open the chainsaw cord in his hand,
"Mukesh"
His face still rested on his dead uncle.
With the growling machine in hand and tears pouring down his glasses, he muttered,
"Complete the job"
Across the playground, the veil fractured in shining lines. Grey fog peeled away in giant shards of light, giving sight of Budh and Yuvati. The boy moved like a prophecy refusing interruption, dodging past her ribbons and breaking apart connections from it's metallic owner.
Beaming with joy that had gone rotten, Yuvati surpassed her exceeding speed as she continued enjoying his unpredictable ways.
"Unlike your best friend, you're too energetic!" She laughed in a high-pitched, sullen falsetto when another tower launched towards him.
Dodging it successfully, he climbed over a ribbon and dived straight into her face till the steeling threads dropped flat and slid under impossible angles.
Jumping back, he said, "Your time ends here"
Her cheeks bulged out into place. Cracking her neck, Yuvati dashed towards his direction with ribbons flashing behind with fiery, vivid colours.
Grabbing a handful, he tied them into a knot that tangled and broke into pieces.
Kicking a seesaw upward, she launched it like a catapult and slashed it towards his direction, smiling wider, "Clever points!"
His shoulder went back, the seesaw grazing an inch apart from his skin and colliding into the ground. Catching a red seat, he launched it in the air.
