CHAPTER 7: A FEW GOOD MEN
Somewhere
Natalie POV
I was taking a walk, hoping to avoid bumping into Caroline do she'd drag me to some shopping trip, something she'd been doing a lot lately. Ever since we met she'd told me everything about everyone in town. From one of her best friend to some random guy who pees in a dumpster.
Then a car pulled up next to me, inside there was some pretty brunette who looked at me with a huge smile.
"Hi, Natalie, right?" she asked awkwardly.
I glanced at her, how in the hell did she know my name?
"I'm just gonna slowly back away." I said, taking a step back.
"No! Sorry if I came off creepy. I'm Elena Gilbert and you're Mr. Saltzman's daughter?" she asked with a nervous smile.
"Jenna's niece?" I asked with a frown. They looked nothing alike. "Caroline's friend? Stefan's girlfriend?" Did that mean she knew about vampires?
"Yeah, that's me." she said. She looked even more nervous then a few second ago. And that would seem impossible.
"Why are you talking to me?" I asked, eyeing her weirdly.
"God, ehm, this is going to seem crazy. Like, really freaking crazy." Elena sighed as she looked down for a moment before meeting my eyes again.
"Probably." I said with a shrug. "You know, seeing as you've been stalking me or something."
"No, no. It's not that." Elena said, as she grimaced. "I think we have to talk."

"So. basically what you're saying is that you might be my sister?" I asked with wide eyes, sitting in the front seat of Elena's non-moving car.
"Yes." she nodded.
"But we're the same age!" I exclaimed with as I raised my eyebrows.
"That's why I wanted to ask you for your birthday." Elena said with a shrug.
"June 22nd." I said slowly, awaiting her reaction.
"Oh my god!" Elena said loudly. "That's mine too."
"Are you saying that we're... twins?" I asked quietly, that would mean that my mom and dad lied to me. They always told me I was an only child. And if I have a twin sister... then that's obviously not true.
"Which one of us is older?" Elena asked.
"To know that I kind of have to know when you were born. You know, the time." I said sarcastically, still kind of shocked.
"Ehm, about 12:30." Elena shrugged with a hopeful smile.
"12:45 here." I sighed. Looks like I have a twin sister. An older one at that.
"Then I'm older, okay." Elena sighed.
"That means my mom and dad adopted you away and... lied to me." I said, looking down, not believing it.
"Natalie... there's something I have to tell you..." Elena trailed off with another nervous smile.

"No." I said angrily, shaking my head violently at Elena's accusation.
"I'm sorry, Natalie... but that's what he told Aunt Jenna." she said with a sympathetic look in her eyes.
"My dad did not lie to me! He's my dad. Not my step-dad or something, okay!" I snapped at her.
She recoiled from my words. "He told Jenna that you were already born when he met Isobel. And that means we have no idea who our birth father could be."
