Chapter 6

Amy’s P.O.V

            No. Dammit. Why did I just say that? Now he’s going to think that I’m a stalker, a freak, a desperate fan girl…Oh I knew I shouldn’t have come, this was a terrible idea, what have I dragged myself into? I felt him looking at me and I immediately felt nervous and started fiddling with my hair and looking away from his gaze.

‘You know, I don’t mind. You shouldn’t feel uncomfortable, it’s cool that you watch my videos.’ He smiled, trying to loosen me up.

‘Okay,’ I smiled back, immediately feeling better.

We talked some more and before I knew it we were getting up and leaving our romantic little spot so that Jack could drive me back home.

            When we got to my doorstep we stopped and looked at each other. It was quite an awkward few seconds and Jack broke the silence, ‘Just a quick question, when’s your birthday?’

‘27th of September, next week,’ I replied.

‘Really? I’d better get you something,’ he said.

‘Oh you don’t have to, but I’m having a party on Friday if you want to come,’ I could not believe I just asked him that.

            He looked a little surprised ‘Okay, I’ll hopefully see you then.’ And with that he left. I watched him drive away and saw him wave at me out of the window. Then I headed inside, thinking about all of the things that had happened that day and how it all ended perfectly with Jack. How could I expect to get to sleep with all of these happy thoughts bouncing around my head?

            The week went by and I soon fully organized the party. It was going to be quite big since it was my eighteenth birthday but I made sure not to invite too many people. There were thirty two people, including Jack, Eliza and Finn since Jack told me that they were both coming and friends from my old and new school.

            Thankfully I managed to convince my parents that they could leave me in charge of the house and that they could spend the night out with my brother. I wasn’t prepared to seem like a parent dependent child on my birthday. Instead I would celebrate my birthday properly with them the next day.

            On Friday we had a day off school so I took the opportunity to tidy the house and order food. At one point I was in my bedroom and saw all of those posters and pictures of men and YouTubers and quickly took them all down until my bedroom wall was bare. All I left was the Wolverine poster, my all-time favorite super hero.

            At five I got changed, ready and perfected the house. I locked my parents and brothers bedroom so nobody could go in. You never know.

            At five thirty, my first guests arrived. They were all from my old school, two guys and three girls called Alex, Max, Mel, Cara and Sabrine. They were all amazing people and I missed them greatly.

‘Hey everyone! How’s it going? I’ve missed you all!’ I exclaimed, this was followed by many hugs, kisses on cheeks and questions asking about my new school and everything.

‘So Amy, have you met any one interesting?’ Mel asked. My mind immediately went to Jack and his amazing smile and funny character.

‘Yes, I have. In fact he’s coming over tonight so you can see him.’ Then I thought of Finn and Eliza, ‘There are also two other people that you should watch out for…They are famous.’

‘Really? Oh tell me, I wanna know!’ Sab shouted. She always got excited about things really easily, ‘Who are they? Please?’

‘Okay I’ll tell you now but please guys don’t annoy them or anything later,’ I didn’t want them to be crowded around with people.

‘Okay, go on…’ Max said impatiently.

‘Jack and Finn Harries and Eliza Frayn.’ I blurted.

They all stared at me in shock. The boys were a little less interested but they knew who they were. However Cara and Sab were really excited, jumping around like crazy. It was a little over the top really, but that was them lot for you. Mel looked at me with confusion.

‘Who the hell are they?’ Her facial expression made me laugh.

‘Some YouTubers,’ and in a quieter voice I said, ‘Jack and Finn are some hot twins.’

            That sparked her up a bit and made her feel a little more involved in Jasmine and Steph’s excitement. Then of course they questioned me about how I got to know them so I told them about the Media Studies project. However I kept the bit about the restaurant to myself, as that was my special moment.

            Soon the door bell rang again and it was Eliza, Andrew and this other girl that I got to know called Laura. Eliza was warmly welcomed by my excited friends and every one soon settled in. People started to mingle and more came in through the door, the noise level rose and every thing started to take off. My stack of birthday presents was piling up rapidly on the table. But things weren’t perfect yet since Jack and Finn hadn’t arrived yet.
