Chapter 17:
The phone ringing in the middle of the night wakes me up and i complain rolling over carefully to get it. "Hello?" i ask groggily and theres a lot of comotin over the line.
"Zoe's water just broke." daddy shouts excitedly and i sit up wide eyed.
"We'll be at the hospital."
"Okay baby girl see you then." I shake Dallas lightly and he opens his eyes slowly.
With a big smile i say "Zoe's water broke."
"Really?" he asks sitting up just as excited as me. We have all been waiting for this day and its finally here.
Nodding we both get out of the bed and throw on jeans and a shirt. "Do you thank we should wake Bray up?" i ask not really sure because her back has been hurting her this last weeks so she hasn't been getting much sleep.
Dallas shakes his head and says "If she's sleeping let her stay asleep."
Walking to her room i open the door quietly and peek my head in seeing her laying peacefully on her bed with a small smile on her face. I close the door back happy that shes finally getting some sleep and go downstairs meeting Dallas in the living room. "I wrote her a note incase she wakes up."
.
Dallas and i walk into the hospital hand and hand and i beam when i see everyone sitting in the waiting room. When i say everyone i mean everyone. Wayne, Tiff, Eva, Mark, Timmy, Uncle Luke and his family and when my eyes fall on the last couple my smile falters a bit. My grand and grandpa are sitting there.
No one has noticed us yet so i slow my pace and look them over. This is the first time i have seen them since the cookout. They never did end up coming to church and i don't know why that is but im not going to hound them about it.
They look frail and tired more tired than they did the first time. My grandfather was a plump man and just by looking at him i can tell he has slimmed down a bit. My grandmothers all gray haired but she has a smile on her face as she looks at the doors to the delivery room.
"Ya ok?" Dallas asks in a whisper and i look up into his loving blue eyes nodding. "I'll be right here with you." he reassures me and i smile at him squeezing his hand.
"Hey y'all." i smile and everyone turns to us with big smiles of their own. They all give me hugs but my grandparents and they look kinda shocked.
"Is that you Avlon?" Grandpa asks quietly and i nod with a small smile. A big smile stretches across his face and he stands coming to give me a hug. He's careful making me cock my head. "I see that God of yours finaly answered your prayers."
Smiling largely i look down at my slightly swollen belly and nod. "He did." Gran pulls me into a light hug next and says "It is so nice to finally meet you sweetie."
"It's nice to meet y'all. This is my husband Dallas." i smile looking back at him and then both shake his hand saying nice to meet him on better terms.
We all take our seats and Dallas and i sit by Eva. "I'm so excited." she states and i smile nodding with her.
"Have you seen Daddy?" i ask her because i bet he is just a mess right now.
She shakes her head with a frown. "We got here about two minutes before you. Where's my niece?" she asks looking around for her and i frown.
"Her backs been hurting her and she's finally asleep so we left her sleep."
"Have you been to the Dr?" She asks worriedly and nod with a reassuring smile. "She's fine it's just her being back into school and the stress of it its putting a lot of pressure on her. She's trying to stay in the honoral and its stressful." Bray has been back into school about a month now.
