"Thank God it's Friday." Casey exclaims as we walk out of the doors and out to the crispy air. "What are you doing this weekend?"
"Uh, the same." I say. I really don't like to give much information to people about myself.
"That's is so awesome." She sarcastically remarks. "Like it literally blew me away."
"I'm spending the weekend with my dad." I smile at her. I really can't keep it from Casey, she has her ways into getting things out of me. Besides, I can trust this girl, I've known for four years already. I hear a car horn and I turn to find my mom's car. "I have to go. Do you need a ride?"
"Please." I'm surprised when she accepts. Casey usually walks home and she has offered me to accompany her, but I always refuse. Honestly, I don;t liker her to be walking home, anything could happen along the way. I have always offered her to ride with me, but she refused.
I nod at her. We make our way through many bodies trying to get away from the school. We finally make to where my mom is park.
"Hello, girls." My mom gives a small smile at both of us.
"Hi, Ms. McLean." Casey says as she gets in the back seat. Casey doesn't know that that's my dad's last name and not my mom's. I smile to myself, so much for her lessons. My mom would probably tell me to get away from Casey if she ever greeted her with one of those phrases she said this morning.
"You may call me Lina." My says as she starts driving away. "How was school?"
"It was okay." I say. The car ride was extremely uncomfortable and quiet. It's fine when it's just me and my mom, but now Casey is here. It must be tough for her to keep quiet, since she's always talking at school. At least she's busy having her nose in her phone, so she could care less.
"I'm working late today." My mo says when we drop off Casey at her house. My mom usually works from six thirty in the morning to four in the afternoon, but sometimes she's asked to stay later. There's not many nurses that work in the hospital and the nurses that do work there have to work for quite a while. "Do you know what time your dad is coming to pick you up?"
"I'm not sure." I say. "I haven't checked my phone." I reach over to my book bag and take out my phone. I turn the power off to my phone during school, I always need to concentrate and need no distractions so I turn it off. Once the phone is on, I have a text message from dad. "He's coming at six."
"Alright." My mom says. "I want you in the house till he arrives and you call me when he does. Don't leave the house for nothing. There's some lunch in the fridge for you." My mom can treat me like a child sometimes, but I don't mind. Me being a child was probably the best years of my life. I just grew up too fast.
We pull over to our driveway. "Remember, call me when he gets here."
"I will, don't worry." I say. " See you Sunday night." She says goodbye and waits for me to get in the house before she drives away. She always does that, always waits for me to get in the place I should be before she leaves. At least she's still the same protective mother.
I eat my sandwich while finishing my homework. I hear my dad's car pull up on the driveway. I grab my phone and the house key. I already have some clothes and everything I need at my dad's apartment, so there's no need to pack anything. I lock the door and get in the car.
"How's the most beautiful girl in the world?" My dad says and I roll my eyes. My dad always spoiled me as a child, he kind of still does. He's not like my mom, he actually knows how to relax and is not too uptight.
"I don't know, go find her and ask her." I joke and he chuckles. "I'm fine."
"Are you hungry." He asks, pulling out of my driveway and driving away.
