The first person that comes to mind is him. I always feel that he's going to come out of the blue, but then I remember that he never visited or called or anything, but I always feel like he's still going to come back, I still have faith in him. In us.

I take my time getting off the car and through the door. My mom told me that that person is in our house waiting for us and I'm really nervous to get inside the house I had always lived in. Unlike me, my mom seems so excited to go in. Who could it be?

The door opens and I follow my mom inside. My mom jumps into an embrace with her. My body calms down a little, noticing it's just Alice, but I still check the living space to see if he's here. He's not.

Alice turns to me with a giant smile printed on her face, I can't help but smile back at her. "Oh, my God!" She pulls me into a tight hug. "It's been forever!"

It's been five months since the last time she visited. Alice is a close friend of the family. Her and I met by our parents and I met him by her, her parents and mine were friends from way back and still are. My dad actually work for Alice's dad's company. Alice and her family would always travel due to her dad's job, but the last time that I saw all of them in one place together with us was three years ago. Alice and her dad would visit from time to time to take care of work here, since his company started in the city here. Her mom and her brother would stay where ever they are.

"Look at you!" Alice breaks away from me to get a good look at me. "You're all grown up." I met Alice and her family when I was starting my last year in middle school. They left the summer before I started high school. I may have known them for about an  year, but they were important people in my life, but one of them changed it drastically.

"How are you?" I'm not sure what to tell her. I mean what do you say to a person that you haven't seen a long time? It's different.

"I'm excited to be here. I'm really, really happy to see you two." She turn to my mom and back to me.

"I'll get us a snack. Make yourself comfortable." My mom walks into the kitchen and leaves us alone.

"Come." Alice leads me down to sit on the couch beside her. Alice has always made herself comfortable in this house in the time she was here, she once told me that this was like a second home to her, not that I don't blame her, she and my mom get along very well. "So what's new? You really have changed since the last time I saw you."

"Thanks. Uh, nothing interesting has happened really." I say.

"Oh, that can't be true. Nothing? No guys?" She shoves my arm playfully with hers. Alice has always been so interested in my life and I don't mind, I actually like the attention she hives me,

"No." I say.

"That's a lie." She says. I don't know how she can read me just like that.

"Well, there is this one guy." I always told Alice everything, she was like a sister that I could trust.

Alice gasps. "I knew it. Who?"

"Uh, his name is Jake." I'm not sure what to tell her about him. "There's a dance this Friday and he asked me to go with him." I'm still a little uncomfortable with the whole situation, I've never been asked out, well not in a long time and I forgot how I should really feel when a guy asks me out. Shouldn't I feel special and all happy over a guy liking me?

"Really? That's so adorable. What did you say?"

"I told him that I was going to think about it."

"Why? Do you want to go with him?"

"I don't think my mom would let me." I say.

"You know what I think? That you're just saying that as an excuse to not go." She says. "I know you want to go. What's stopping you?"
