Now that 'the boss' was standing less than two feet away from him, Moses could see his face for the first time. His skin was extremely pale, as if it lacked any type of pigment at all. He had a round face devoid of any facial hair which gave him a boyish semblance. Most of his blonde hair fell loosely around his shoulders save a small tuft of hair that was matted against his forehead. He had pointed elvenlike ears protruding from his bedhead. A warm half-smile was displayed on his face and it struck Moses as odd for someone to wake up smiling, but that wasn't the most unusual trait about the boss. His eyes were like nothing Moses had ever seen. He had glassy bright eyes, they seemed to be a mixture of brown and yellow. They were reminiscent of the color of beach sand when the sun shone down upon it and contrasted with the large dark bags looming underneath them.
"But please, feel free to call me Lync. I'm not really the bossy type." He said extending his hand towards Moses and extending his half-smile into a full one, exposing his pearly white teeth.
"Yeah, I kind of got that vibe from the PJ's." Moses shook his hand, and was surprised to realize that Lync's hand was much smaller than his. Moses wasn't a large person, in fact, he was actually a little bit shorter than average and had an average build.
How was this guy the boss? Xandre could probably snap him like a twig.
"What can I say? I like to be comfortable? But let's get down to business as I'm sure you're wondering why I had Xandre and Ally rescue you." He took a seat on the edge of the bed and locked his eyes on Moses. "Feel free to have a seat. Before we begin, I have to ask you something. Moses, will you become a part of our group?"
If Moses hadn't sat down in the beige couch across from the bed, he would have been taken aback by the question. He had thought of countless scenarios in his head since he had been informed he was going to be meeting with the boss, but none of them included a mystical-eyed boss clothed in pajamas propositioning him to join his group.
"Umm, I don't even know anything about your group. What do you guys do?"
"I can only tell you that until you're one of us unfortunately. What I can tell you is that as a Soop, very soon you will become part of a war, whether you wish to or not, and we're the type of people you'd like to have in your corner."
Moses wasn't surprised by his warning of coming war. It seemed as if each day the amount of SEC agents on the street grew and the amount of Soops lessened. And they were clearly getting stronger. The way things were going, a revolution was imminent. Xandre and Ally had rescued him from the agents easily and seemed like genuinely nice people. But with all the secrecy he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to this group than met the eye. Regardless, his choice was obvious.
"It seems like I need you guys if I want to have any chance of not being recaptured by the Agents, so yeah. I'll join."
"Great, welcome aboard Moses."
"Okay, so what exactly did I just join?"
"An organization that is combatting the inhumane treatment of other Soops. Tell me, Moses, what do you actually know about the Agents? And the institution that they were taking you to when Xandre and Ally intervened?"
"Not much, the Agents have been on my trail for a while now. They pop up from time to time, but I always got away from them. But the ones today were much stronger than the others had been. And as far as Assignment goes, I don't know anything at all, except for the horror stories I've heard. It sounds like a prison for Soops."
"Ah, the Agents that were following you were probably SE3's. They're a new group of Agents that are made up of the strongest Soops, G3's, or Third Generation Soops. They're the Agents that go after the most wanted rogue Soops. So, I guess we aren't the only organization's attention that you've grabbed.
