'Keep running, just keep running, like your life depended on it' I told myself. And it was true. My life depended on it. If I stopped running he would catch me, and I couldn't have that. I could hear my breath coming in and out very fast. I couldn't feel my legs, I wasn't telling them to move. They moved on their own, mechanically.
I could hear his footsteps, getting closer every second. I had been running away from him since I left home. When I opened the door I saw him, waiting for me, that's when I had started to run. And here I was, sensing death a few feet away, coming for me. I couldn't outrun him, but I could hide from him. But first I had to take off my high heels. For one thing, they were killing me, and for another thing they were slowing me down.
As quickly as I could I took them off. That gave him advantage. He wasn't far away, his footsteps were near. I started running faster now that I wasn't wearing high heels. I turned left on the first corner I saw and threw a bin on the way, making his advance difficult. I kept running, not risking looking back, not wanting to see his face. I was fast enough to lose sight of him; I was the fastest in my grade. So I pulled myself faster, just to hear that he did the same. This was hopeless. I was never going to win this. I had to accept the truth, he was going to catch me. I turned left to come front with an alley. There went all my run. He was going to get to me. I turned around and there he was, smiling evilly. I took steps backwards until my back touched the wall. He just walked slowly towards me, confident, he had caught me. I closed my eyes waiting for the end. I don't know what I was expecting, probably seeing my life run in front of my eyes, but that didn't happen. I heard him chuckle, nearer than I expected, I hadn't heard him getting that close. I opened my eyes. Something caught my eye. I saw a reflection. I slowly looked at where it came from. A knife. There was the killing weapon. I really wished he was going to do it quickly. Now that I stopped to think, I would never see my parents again, or my big brother. I had just kissed my parents goodbye and yelled Justin to turn the music down, that was the last time I saw my family. I narrowed my eyes in concentration, trying to hear what he was thinking.
"Finally" He thought "You're mine Hailey"
I saw the knife moving upwards towards my neck. I squeezed my eyes tightly shut and begged for it to be quick. I felt the cold blade against my neck and him making pressure against it. A single drop of blood ran down my neck. 'Goodbye world'. That was my last thought.
I woke up, sitting up as fast as I could, my heavy breath the only thing I could hear in the night. I could feel sweat rolling down my face. I took a hand to my neck and that was when everything hit me. He was back for me.
