"Good morning. I left you a present at your door"
That's what woke me up at five in the morning in a school day. Him and his stupid texts. By this time he only infuriated me, but I was no longer scared. I decided to ignore him and get back to sleep, I could use those two hours left for sleep. I left the phone on the desk and closed my eyes. As soon as I did that, it started buzzing again.
"Don't sleep, go open it. I'm sure you'll like it"
How did he know I went back to sleep? I looked around, founding nothing suspicious. I didn't even bother searching for thoughts. There wouldn't be, there never were. I slipped into a pair of slippers and a red bathrobe before heading down the stairs. Really? Five in the morning? Couldn't he wait until my alarm clock woke me up? He was frustrating. I opened the front door, looking around, trying to find someone. And guess what? There was no one. Of course. Who would be at five in the morning?! Couldn't he get a life? Ugh. I looked down, coming front with an envelope. I picked it up and turned it around in my hands. No address, no stamp. Nothing. I looked around once more before closing the door and heading into the kitchen. I sat on one of the chairs at the isle and stared at the envelope. What could it have that I would like? Carefully opening it, I took out a photo. It was a baby, crying. On the left corner there was something written.
"This is just the beginning"
He woke me up for this?! For a damn photo?! I really hated him. I was to sleepy to even register what the photo meant! I could deal with it later on. Deciding to just go back to sleep, I went to my room, leaving the envelope in my purse and going back to sleep.
"I'm going to the store to get popcorn" I yelled to my mother.
"Okay, and while you are at it buy a pizza. We're eating that for dinner"
"Mum, I won't be here for dinner" I said, remembering I had a date with Jake later on. I really wasn't in the mood. I was tired.
"Oh, okay" She simply answered.
I walked out of my house and went to the store. It was a big one. In barely two days I knew where the store, the park and the bank was. I was proud of myself. Walking to the snacks sections, I grabbed a packet of popcorn. Today they were offering tuna half their price. There was a huge pyramid on the middle of the shop made out of tuna cans. Walking past it I headed to the frozen section. I was looking at the instructions on a ham and cheese pizza when I got a message.
"I prefer the four cheese one"
It wasn't mum, it wasn't Justin. It was him. I quickly spun around, looking for someone. There was a woman on my right looking at a packet of ham. She was reading the calories. There wasn't anyone to my left. And neither behind me, there was a stand full of different types of pasta. Racking through everyone’s thoughts, I didn't find anything out of normal. I took the pizza with my free hand and turned to the cash register.
"I said, I prefer the four cheese"
Another message said. I looked around once again, finding nothing. I started walking towards the cash register. Suddenly, the whole stand of pasta was thrown at me. The rack didn't reach me for a foot, but a box of lasagna hit my head. That wasn’t an accident, I was sure. I made my way through the hallways, walking faster. Another message reached me.
"Don't make me hurt you even more"
I was starting to feel scared. I had almost reached the cash register. I was walking past the tuna pyramid, when it fell over me, reaching my right leg and foot. I run down the last hallway, my ankle throbbing in pain with each step. More than twenty tuna cans had fallen on my ankle. It was going to be bruised, I could feel it. And my head wasn't giving me a good time either. Just my luck, a tuna can had made its way to the same exact point to where the lasagna box had hit me. I dialed Justin's number with a shaky finger while the guy on the cash register registered the things I was buying.
"Justin, I need you to pick me up at the store" I said as I handed the money.
"I'm going. Why?"
"I'll tell you later" And with that I ended the call.
I was starting to freak out. He had thrown a stand of pasta and tuna cans at me! What else was next? I didn't want to know. But I knew one thing; I was going to tell Justin. Getting everything, I headed outside, walking home to get to Justin quicker. I couldn't keep this from him anymore. It was too much. I shouldn't have lied to him from the beginning.
I was crossing the road when I got a message. Stopping in the middle of the road I read the text.
"You asked for it"
I heard a car drive down the road quickly. He was racing towards me, fast, but didn't slow down when he saw me. I stared at it in shock, waiting for it to stop. But it didn't. It went all so quickly I didn't know what happened. One minute I was staring at it, the next second I was laying on the floor. I couldn't breathe, my chest was constricting my lungs, my heart beat almost inaudible, my eyes close. Every bone in my body hurt. I couldn't move. I couldn't feel my arms, nor my legs. I heard a car halt to a stop, and a door open.
"Hailey?" I heard a voice call "Hailey!" There was silence for a few seconds before I heard the person talk to someone. My head was starting to hurt and it took a lot to not go into the darkness. It sucked me. It was like a black hole "Please, I need an ambulance right now" And I gave in. Everything went black.
