Sooner Than Expected

Chapter 8 - New

I didn't feel anything. Weird. It must have been real quick.

"Hale, come on" Someone said, tugging me by the arm

I didn't move, shocked. This wasn’t heaven!

"Come on Hailey, move" I heard Justin think

Wait a minute. Justin wasn't supposed to be dead. Or did he hurt him? I really hoped he didn't, but how could I hear his thoughts? I must be imagining them

"Hale!" I hear him yell.

I heard the sound of engines being started. This wasn't heaven. There weren't cars in there.

I slowly opened my eyes. I was in the same place. Nothing had changed. Well, now that I noticed, his car was gone but I was still standing there.

"Hailey, we have to go" Justin yelled above the roar of the engines

When I didn't move, Justin pulled my arm and dragged me into the car

"What happened?" I asked, confused

"We are in the middle of a car race!" Justin said

"And where is he?" I screamed

"He's gone. He went when we heard the gun being shot"

So, he wasn't the one with the gun “Who shot the gun?”

“It was from the race, to say that the race had started” Justin said

Mum pulled out of the driveway, driving as fast as the car would go. He went out the same way we entered. How the heck did we have gas? Well, I wasn’t going to ask as long as this thing worked

"Hale" Justin whispered, his eyes twinkling. He hugged me tightly "What were you thinking? We were so scared"

"I'm sorry" I whispered, realization hitting me. He could have killed me

We drove the rest of the journey in silence, no one talking. Mum stopped in front of a beautiful house, with huge windows, three floors and a big garden

"It's beautiful" I said, all traces of scariness gone

"Wait until you see the inside" Mum said "It has a swimming pool"

I opened the door, jumping out of the car and running to the front door

"Come on, open it, we have already arranged everything, you only have to organize your bedroom" Mum said, smiling at my reaction

I put a hand on the door knob and turned around, looking for Justin. I wanted to open it with him

"Come on Justin, hurry up" I urged him as he was still getting out of the car

“I’m coming” He said

“Quick” I said, nearly jumping with excitement

When he was a few steps away I turned the door knob, but waiting to open the door until Justin was there.

I swung the door open as soon as Justin put one foot beside me. It was huge. The entrance was huge; you could see the living room from here. You had to walk down a few stairs and there it was, and right behind it, stairs that took to the first floor. The living room had huge windows that gave to the garden. To the left there were sliding doors that gave to the kitchen, and furthest away there was the dining room

“It’s amazing” I said

“Come on in” Mum said “Go to your rooms”

I walked slowly towards the stairs, staring in amazement at the house. You could see the entire garden from here, the windows where so huge. I wondered if they were all sliding doors. I went up the stairs and turned to my mum
