The Ambrette Pokémon Center feels calmer than the hotel, but my mind is still on sand, luggage, and the Terra Badge.

After breakfast, we use the training room behind the main lobby to stretch our Pokémon before deciding where to go next. Pikachu practices quick turns around small cones, keeping his paws light after yesterday's fishing chaos. Froakie works on landing silently from the padded wall. Fennekin and Pancham practice moving together, with Fennekin setting careful lines of flame on the target field while Pancham learns when to stop posing and actually dodge.

Serena watches Pancham slide under one harmless ember and smiles. "That was better. You do not need to make every dodge look like a performance."

Pancham plants both paws on his hips and tilts his head proudly.

Pancham's meaning reaches me with cheerful certainty. "If a dodge looks good, then it obviously counts more, even when Serena is trying to teach me otherwise."

I laugh while Pikachu lands on my shoulder. "He is listening in his own way."

Serena gives me a look. "That usually means trouble."

Near the practice pool, Clauncher fires a careful Water Gun at a floating target. The first shot hits too hard and sends the target spinning into the divider. Clauncher snaps its claw in irritation, but this time it does not blast again immediately. It waits for me to lift my hand.

"Better," I say. "You do not need every shot to be the strongest one."

Clauncher's meaning reaches me through the tight angle of its claw. "I still want to prove my power, but I am beginning to understand that aim can say more than anger."

Serena sends out Binacle beside a low balance platform. The two heads grip the edge, argue with sharp little cries, then suddenly pull together and hop the rock body onto the center.

Serena kneels beside them. "That is what I meant. If you pull together, you move farther."

Binacle's meaning comes through in two stubborn pulses that finally settle into one. "We do not agree easily, but when we do, nothing moves us by accident."

Bonnie watches both new Pokémon with Dedenne in her arms. "Yesterday's fishing was really messy, but they already look like they belong."

Clemont smiles from beside Bunnelby. "Sometimes a chaotic start gives very clear training goals."

David looks at Clauncher's target, then at Binacle's platform. "Precision and balance. That is a useful pair after a Terra Badge chapter."

Before I can answer, someone calls from the doorway. "Sounds like you already found more trouble after the Battle Chateau."

Calem steps into the training room with Quilladin beside him. His cloak is gone today, but he still carries himself like someone who turned every road into a challenge before breakfast.

Quilladin waves at Chespin, and Chespin stares for a moment like he is trying to imagine himself with the same rounded armor. Then Chespin puffs out his chest, lifts both arms, and tries to look bigger than he is.

Quilladin chuckles softly and taps his own chest plates.

Chespin's meaning reaches me with a mixture of pride and curiosity. "I do not want to admit I am impressed, but I am absolutely wondering what kind of strength waits ahead of me."

Serena brightens as she turns toward him. "Calem!"

"Hey, Calem," I say. "What are you doing in Ambrette?"

Calem walks closer while Quilladin waves at Chespin. "This is Ambrette Town. If you want to continue toward Cyllage, you pass through the aquarium side of town and the coastal roads. But before that, I wanted to visit the Fossil Lab."
