Siebold's Courmarine Restaurant stood ahead of us with polished windows, clean white stone, and a quiet confidence that made the building feel different from the loud restaurants we had visited in Lumiose. After Xerosic, Essentia, and the hidden floor beneath Lysandre Café, the calm should have been welcome. Instead, I felt the Fire Medal in my pocket and knew the calm would not last.
Serena walked at my side, while Alice followed with Clemont, Bonnie, Elline, and David. Squishy rested inside Serena's bag again, quieter after Xerosic had been stopped. Bonnie still checked on him every few minutes, as if the name Xerosic had left a shadow that would not completely leave her heart.
Clemont looked over the restaurant's entrance. "So this is where Siebold accepts Elite Four challengers?"
David adjusted his glasses as Klinklang spun quietly beside him. "A restaurant, a battlefield, and a test of timing. It sounds exactly like him."
Elline's Ampharos lit the tip of her tail softly, and the warm glow made the restaurant's polished doors shimmer. "After Malva's Fire Chamber, I wonder what kind of field the Water specialist uses."
Bonnie grabbed Clemont's sleeve. "It has to be amazing. Maybe there are fountains everywhere."
I smiled a little. "With Siebold, it might be more than fountains."
Pikachu looked toward the doors, his ears lifting with excited focus. His meaning reached me clearly. "Another strong battle."
I nodded and stepped inside.
The restaurant was quiet, but not empty. Staff moved like performers, placing dishes and polishing glasses with perfect rhythm. The scent of berries, herbs, and cooked food drifted through the air, and for a moment it was hard to believe an Elite Four battle could happen here. Then Siebold appeared from the far side of the room, dressed with the same elegance I remembered.
"Welcome again, Ash," Siebold said. "How have you been doing?"
"Great," I answered. "It sure has been a while since the Kalos crisis. I want to try the special menu."
Siebold studied me with calm eyes. "I see. I also learned that you and Alain are actually the same person. That makes our old battle even more interesting in memory. But do you think you can beat me this time?"
"We will see about that."
Siebold smiled. "A fine answer. Then come with me."
He led us through the restaurant and into a chamber hidden beyond the dining room. The moment we stepped inside, the doors sealed behind us, and the room transformed. Pillars rose and spun upward. Chains pulled down through them with a deep metallic sound. Water burst from the pillars, then cascaded along the walls in shining sheets. The floor lowered just enough for the water to spread without drowning the field, turning the whole chamber into a controlled flood.
Bonnie stared with wide eyes. "So this is an Elite Four battlefield."
Clemont held his glasses in place as mist drifted around us. "The water pressure must be carefully controlled. This is not only a battlefield. It is a machine."
Siebold turned toward me from the opposite side. "Ash, I have a question I must pose to you. Do you think Pokémon battling can ever be worthy of being called art?"
I looked across the flooded field. I thought of Contest stages, Showcase performances, Gym battles, League finals, and the way Greninja's movements could feel like my own heartbeat. I thought of Serena dancing with her Pokémon, and of how battles changed depending on trust.
"Yes," I said. "I have always thought Pokémon battles are a unique form of art. It is not only strength and strategy. It is the bond between a Trainer and their Pokémon, the way we read each other, adjust together, and turn each move into something only we can create. Sometimes it feels like a dance that disappears the moment it ends, but the feeling stays with everyone who was part of it."
