Hello everyone! It's nice to see you again! It's been- *checks calendar* about two weeks since I last posted? *laughs nervously* I'm sorry! I'm also sorry that this one is so short! But don't worry they'll still come! Well enough of my rambling on with the story! Enjoy! ^_^/
Oh, and as promised, the first character picture above is of our favorite little fox, Jay!

A yell echoes from the forest and Ambrosia's face is a mix of sorrow and then fear as we get up from where we were sitting and run into the woods in the direction of the sound.

We arrive at the source of the sound weapons brandished, on the ground is Ashton and beside him is Avi.

"Ashton!" says Ambrosia, running to his side.

"What happened?"

Avi looks up at me with an almost startled look. "Phantoms, more accurately one Phantom."

One?

"Ashton said it grabbed him by the arm and kicked him in the ribs before I got here."

"He took it on alone?"

Avi nods.

I look over at Ashton. "How's the arm?"

"It's fine... Didn't even bruise." He says with a smug smile on his face.

"Alright... How about the Phantom, where's the body?"

"It ran off."

Ambrosia, gives him a questioning look, one eye brow delicately arched. "Ran off? did it say anything?"

He shakes his head.

I look at Avi, something was strange about this... something about his behavior too seemed a little off.

"Well there is no sense in talking about it, now, since there was only one we can only assume it came for it's goal. if they wanted a fight they would've picked one." I sigh running a hand through my hair. "They must be trying to figure out what our next move is... we need to move carefully from now on."

Ambrosia helps her brother up, and they walk back towards the campsite, Ashton with a slight limp.
***
Later on in the evening when everyone else had fallen asleep and I am on first watch the night is still and I have some tim to think to myself, I find myself wondering how the others were doing, how my Ambrosia is doing. something was telling me that it isn't going as planned, that something is wrong.

Suddenly two arms wrap around me, from behind but I immediately recognize them as Ambrosia's. I place one of my hands on her arms.

"What's got you so troubled?" she asks.

I kiss one of her hands lightly.

"Just thinking about how all of this should play out, what our next move should be. How were going to get into the royal city without being noticed." I tell her. "But why are you up you should be sleeping..."

"I was, but I liked looking at your handsome profile so much that I had to come over and cheer it up." she says.

I smile.

"There it is... The smile I like. You look a lot more handsome that way." She whispers.

I look up into her golden eyes and then I reach up and kiss her, pulling her head gently towards me, her kiss is as warm as the fire we had going and one of the things that helped keep me grounded.

***

The next morning we arrive in the royal city, the square is crowded and there are guards around, but not too many for us to be worried about. but that didn't stop us from keeping our hoods up as we moved through the crowd. Jay is between Ambrosia and I, Ashton is in front of her and Avi takes the lead.

"Hey, Darrion?"

"Yes, Jay? What's wrong?" I ask beginning to get concerned, if he felt something off, it usually meant we were going to run into trouble.

"I know what you're thinking, and no, I don't sense anything too abnormal... the air here seems a little heavier though. Is that normal?"

"Yes, it is though... Its lighter than usual."

Jay turns his head to look at me his green eyes wide.

Ambrosia looks at Jay and I, one slender eye brow raised. "What's going on?"

"Nothing major... Jay was just asking about the kingdom." I turn my head back to Jay. "But yes, The air is much heavier, it's almost a shock to be breathing this well... and to see the people moving around so lively."

I feel Ambrosia place her hand slightly on my arm as we stop.

She gives me slight smile.

I smile back and kiss her hand.

"Come on you two!" we don't have all day, says Ashton throwing his arms around us grinning wildly. "we found an inn to stay in, that way you two can have some alone time." he wiggles his eyebrows suggestively.

Ambrosia's face flushes red, and she hits her brother over the head with her hand and then leads him away by the ear, his complaints fading with them.

I smile and shake my head, and begin to move forward to go with everyone else.

"Well then, Engel it seems you made it."

This freezes me in my tracks, and I turn around to see no one to match the voice to.

Time is most definitely running out.
