Ashton?
My brothers name rings through my head, nothing is making sense why did Darrion just say my brothers name. I look between the two of them, it almost seemed like things were happening in slow motion.
"Darrion, what are you talking about?" I ask.
He doesn't look at me he just continues to stare a my brother with a piercing accusing gaze.
My brother begins to laugh, the familiar smile I know so well stretching across his face. "What are you talking about, man? What would I know about this?"
Darrion's stony gaze doesn't shift. "You can drop the facade, Ashton."
My brother looks at a loss for words, and then he turns to look at Avi, whose bag is still glowing bright red from the spot that he had dropped it. "It's Avi's bag that led him here!" he goes over to Avi's bag and picks out the glowing red object. "See it's him that led them here!"
"Is it him or them?" Darrion asks.
"What?"
"Him or them, you said him before. Also, you're touching a Phantoms tracking object only they should be able to retrieve it, any one else would be incompasitated." Darrion walks towards him, his hand going to the hilt of his swords. "That is of course unless they are the Phantom's commander." the sharp metallic sound pierces the air as Darrion draws Engel. "Now I'll say again, give. it. up."
My brothers worried expression soon falls into a smirk as he begins laughing, dropping the tracking object. "How long?"
"Since the moment I found you all I've had the suspicion, but when the Phantom attacked us at camp that is when I was sure, They shouldn't have been able to find us because of Ambrosia's necklace, since it's back with her the cloaking ability works now, Also your arm you should've been in immediate pain from their touch since you don't have abilites. How is it by the way?"
My brother claps his hands. "Very well done, I underestimated you, Darrion."
"Well you know, I really can't blame you, you were given misinformation because they had no idea what I am capable of." his head turns towards the woods. "Isn't that right old friend?"
A shadow appears from the woods, hands clasped behind his hands, a very smug look on his face.
My brother, walked out of the woods, but he looked different.
He stops about twenty-feet from Darrion. "Yes, you gave us quite the run around, Old Friend."
"So, how'd you survive the cave in? it seems you've been with them for a while judging on your appearance."
This other Ashton smirks. "I'm afraid that this is a trade secret." He snaps his fingers and the Phantoms restrain Jay, Avi, and I. "Now I suggest you come with us, we've been through hell and high water looking for you."
"Or what, you won't hurt Jay or Ambrosia they're too valuable to you."
He chuckles darkly. "Oh how you underestimate me, who says I wouldn't?"
Darrion's eyes widen, he quickly pulls something out of his cloak that I cannot see, and then he looks back at me, he expression quickly turns into one of fury. "What have you done to him you bastard?!" he asks charging towards him, his aura flaring up in a way I've never seen before.
Suddenly I feel the Phantom's hands at my neck the icy chill burning me.
"You might want to rethink that if I were you, I'll do the same thing here and make you watch."
Darrion throws Engel on to the ground and then puts his hands up in surrender, the Phantoms instantly pin him to ground and release the holds on our necks.
I look at my brother, and begin pulling away from the Phantoms this works and I run over to my brother and slap him hard across the face but again I am immediately restrained by the phantoms.
"You traitor!" I screech. "I should rip your head off!"
He smiles, wiping the small corner of blood from his mouth, the smile that I'm used to seeing and beginning to hate. "Sorry, dear sister, but there is no time to talk now, but you'll understand soon." he looks at the Phantoms. "Make sure she gets to the cells safely, I want nothing to happen to her."
He walks away, but before I can shout again my vision begins to get blurry and then everything goes dark.
***
I wake up to the sound of clanking, I bolt up and try to move forward, only to find myself restrained. chained to a wall.
Where am I?
"We're in a cell in the royal palace..."
"Jay? Are you alright, where are you?"
"In the cell next to you..."
"Where's Darrion and Avi?"
"Avi I think is in another cell, and they just took Darrion out of here right before you woke up."
I place my head against the wall sighing, I didn't know what to ,everything I have thought to have known is a lie.
Where do I go from here?
"Boss... What are we going to do?" Jay asks solemnly.
"I don't know little fox, but I do know that we're all going to make it out of here in one piece and save everyone else."
He is silent after that.
I place my hand against my throat to feel the damaged skin.
Ack, they really did a number on me... I focus my aura to my hands, trying to picture how Darrion does it.
At that moment my door swings open the light stinging my eyes and making me jump up off the floor my arms above my eyes as they try and adjust.
"Well, dear sister, no need to be worried it's just little old me."
It was Ashton's voice, the one who came out of the shadows, the older Ashton.
I could tell that I was in for something unpleasant.
