*CALUM’S POV*
I sat in the waiting room, waiting for Jess, it’s been hours, well at least it’s felt like that.
“Calum, why don’t you go home, have a shower, get changed,” Michael suggested,
“I’m fine” I didn’t take my eyes off of the door,
“Come on mate” Luke pulled me up, “we will be half an hour, someone will call us if something happens” I hesitated, before walking out of the hospital with Luke.
“I don’t know what to do” I whispered once we got into the car,
“She will be fine, she’s a strong girl” Luke said, trying to cheer me up,
“I can’t lose her as well” I cried,
“You’re not going to lose her,” Luke said.
The rest of the drive home was silent. I walked into the apartment, went into the lounge room, “that’s where the last photo was taken” I whispered,
“Photo of what?” Luke asked,
“Of Jess and our baby” I whispered, I walked over that spot and went to the bathroom, had a quick shower got changed. I was putting on my shoes when Ashton was calling me, “is she okay?” I asked, quickly,
“she’s awake” he said, I quickly hung up,
“LUKE! COME ONE LETS GO!” I shouted I quickly up on my other shoe and went down to the car.
Once we reached the hospital, I ran inside, going straight to Jess. “Jess” I ran up to her and hugged her,
“Calum” she whispered, “I’m so scared” she cried onto my shoulder, “what’s wrong with me?”
“It’s going to be okay, I promise, nothing’s wrong with you” I whispered back into her ear.
The next minute the doctor came walking in, “just then, you’re body just shut down, sadly there is nothing we can do about it, it is going to happen again, it’s the way the body is mending its self after the accident, but that kind of reaction won’t happen again, from now on it should just be… a deep sleep kind of thing”
“Is there anything bad that’s going to happen?” her mum asked,
“As long as she’s here over the next few weeks, then no, after a while, the attacks should become less rare, rare to the point we can give you some medication for it”
“So she’s going to be okay?” I asked,
“Yes, she is going to be fine” the doctor smiled and then walked out of the room.
“See, I told you you’re going to be fine” I kissed her forehead,
“I love you so much” she hugged me tightly,
“I love you too”
*3 weeks later*
Jess’s attacks have become less regular, in fact for the last 3 days she hasn’t had any. The doctors say if she doesn’t have any for the next 7 days she will be fine to go home. They’ve started to give her some medication, the side effects are sleepiness and weird food cravings, I’ll get her whatever she wants as long as it keeps her alive.
Jess and I were talking on her bed, when Luke came in, “Luke” Jess said, turning her head to him, for the last few weeks they have hardly talked, Jess would ask to see him but he would always refuse. Never understood why.
“Can I take to you Jess? Privately?” he asked, turning his head to me,
“I’m just going to go and get a coffee. Want one?” I asked her and Luke, Jess nodded her head and Luke didn’t want one.
I walked out of the room, wondering what they were talking about.
*JESS’S POV*
“Hey Luke” I smiled, patting a spot on the bed,
“Hi Jess,” he gave me a weak smile, taking the seat on the bed
“I could hear you” I told him, all that escaped his mouth was an “oh”. “So Tim huh?” I nudged him,
“Yeah…um… we’ve kept in touch over the past year” he giggled,
“And…?” I asked,
“Well… I don’t know… we act like we’re together, you know… kiss and all… but… but he hasn’t said anything…”
“Have you?” I asked,
“No,” we both stayed silent, “he asked about you a few weeks ago, he didn’t know you were here” he broke the silence,
“Oh”
“He said you and him were catching up,”
“I can’t remember saying anything like that, the last thing I remember is catching the plane, to come back home”
“Calum, he went through your phone, he was going through the photos of you and him, when he unlocked it he saw that the last phone call you had was with him, he snapped, thinking he was trying to get you to like him back” he laughed a bit, “it wasn’t funny at the time… but now… it kind of is…” I laughed a bit as well, “so to calm him down… I told Calum about Tim and I…” he whispered,
“How did he take it?”
“He smiled and said, ‘I’ve always wanted a gay best friend’, it was actually really nice”
“That’s sweet”
“Yeah it is”
“Does anyone else know?” he shook his head, “are you going to tell them?”
“I was planning on talking to Tim, and then see what happens, because if anything does happen I just want to walk up to them and be like, ‘this is my boyfriend Tim’”
“When are you seeing him next?”
“Once you’re outta here” he smiled,
“Pass me my phone” I said, nodding across the room to my room, Luke got up and handed me my phone. I unlocked it and put Tim on loudspeaker, “hello?” “Tim its Jess” “oh my god Jess, I’ve been worried sick about you, Luke called me up and everything,” “I’ve been told” I laughed a bit, “what do you mean?” “Oh nothing… anyways I was hoping we could still catch up, sometime?” “Are you out of hospital?” “No, not yet, want to come for a visit though?” “Yeah sure, when?” “Now?” “haha okay, I’ll be there in half an hour” “see you soon” “bye” and I hung up and looked at Luke. He was looking at the ground, blushing. “naww Luke” I gave him a side hug,
“Coffee?” Calum came in handing me my coffee,
“Thanks babe” I kissed his cheek, “Tim’s on his way over”
“Tim?” he asked, looking at me and then at Luke, “oh Tim” he smiled a bit, “and why is that?”
“So he can see me” I laughed, but really nodding my head over to Luke.
“Stop it” Luke was smiling even bigger, he was acting like a teenage girl being teased about the boy he likes, it was cute.
