Some Things Just Aren't Meant To Be

I miss you and I’m so sorry, I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight.

I hung up the phone after talking to Calum, I banged my head on the glass that surrounded the phone box, “are you okay there?” an Aussie accent asked, I shot my head up, looking over to see a really good looking guy standing there,

“Um… yeah, fine thanks” I said, wiping away my tear,

“If you’re fine, you wouldn’t be crying” he raised an eyebrow

“It doesn’t even matter, it’s just stupid” I shrugged,

“surely it can’t be that stupid” I stayed quiet, I wanted to keep on saying that it was, but that wouldn’t go down to well, “I’m Nick” he held out his hand,

“Jess” I shook it,

“Look, maybe to cheer you up, I could buy you a drink or something, I heard that theres a new café across the road, you want to?” he asked, I thought about it for a second,

“Sure” I smiled.

“I know someone who can help you” Nick said, taking another sip of his coffee, “a mate of mine, works in his photography business, I could give him a good word for you” he smiled,

“No no, it’s fine, I will find my way… eventually” I laughed,

“Please?” he asked,

“If it’s not too much?” I asked,

“Never” he smiled.

I got my bag and jumper; we started walking out of the out of the café, “maybe we can do this again?” he asked,

“That would be nice” I smiled,

“Here’s my number” he handed me a napkin with his number on it, “call me” before he walked away,

“Maybe I will” I smiled,

“Hi Jess” he laughed, “hi Calum” I smiled back at him, god he’s amazing. He held out his hand, I took it as we started walking towards the car, “you look beautiful” he whispered into my ear, I could feel myself blushing, “thank-you” I whispered, tucking some loos hair behind my ear.

“You idiot! Get off the road!” someone yelled at me, I snapped back into reality, quickly driving back onto the normal side of the road. I pulled over to the side of the road, trying to get my breathing back to normal.

I had to get distracted, I pulled out my phone, quickly went to messages, and clicked on Calums name, I looked at our messages for a  second, before realising what I was going, I got out of Calums and mine messages and went to a new message, I typed in Nick’s number, “hi its Jess” I sent him

I couldn't sleep; the thunder was just letting louder and louder. There was some lighting that was really close; it looked like it was just outside Calums window. I turned around and cuddled into Calums chest. "shh, shh, it's okay" he whispered running his finger up and down my spine until a feel asleep.

A tear fell from my cheek; I had to keep reminding myself that some things are just not meant to be.

*CALUM’S POV*

As soon as I hung up the phone to Jess, I knew that I had lost her, I felt it in the pit of my stomach, “babe?” Kate called from the kitchen,

 “Yeah?” I asked,

“Do you want pineapple on your pizza?”

“I don’t really care, as long as it doesn’t have pineapples” Jess laughed, “oh you to?” I  complained and Mali just smiled at Jess, laughing, “I also have this thing when I don’t eat pineapples on pizza, its tastes weird” she shrugs laughing, “I know, it’s something sweet that going on something that’s savoury, it’s just not meant to happen” Jess says,

“Um… no thanks” I mumbled,

“Oh why not, pineapple is the best part of pizza” she laughed,

“It’s sweet with savoury, it’s just not meant to happen” I snapped at her, she froze, then ran her fingers though her hair, “sorry” I mumbled,

“Calum, I can’t do this if every 5 seconds you’re going to snap at me” she sighed,

“I’m sorry, but I can’t help it” I started to yell again,

“CALUM STOP OKAY? JUST STOP!” she yelled, “IT’S DONE, OVER!” she grabbed her bags and left my apartment.

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t care; she wasn’t Jess. She was never Jess, she never will be, no one will be, Jess… she’s… she’s different. The way she laughs at even the smallest things, when her expression softens while her eyes are getting lost which meant she was off daydreaming. She would always do that, get lost in her thoughts, I always wondered what she was thinking about. Or whenever I would stare at her, and when she caught me, she would make a funny face, it was so cute. And on cold nights, she wouldn’t move an inch. Those were my favourite times, when we slept, I felt her heartbeat against mine, the way she would snuggle her face into my chest when she woke up, feeling her warm breath against my skin.

Jess and I were on my bed watching a movie, we were cuddled up. We were halfway through our third movie, when I was staring down at Jess, god she looked amazing, she looked up, I smiled before leaning down and kissing her. It was strange, I wanted her, I needed her, to be able to feel her skin against mine. I tried to pull her closer, close enough so our bodies will never be apart again. Jess crawled onto my lap; I licked her bottom lips, begging for an entry, getting it seconds later. I hands crawled under her top, I didn’t know what I was doing, but it felt right. Feeling parts of her body that I have never seen before, quickly pulling the thin material off of her body. I pushed her over, so I was hovering above her, moving along to her neck, while her hands ran though my hair. Hearing the sweet moan leave her mouth, I knew I had found her sweet spot. I started working on taking her pants off, hoping she would take some part of my clothing off soon. I was kissing down her stomach, feeling her breathing getting faster and faster, her blood pumping throughout her body. “I’m home!” her mum yelled walking into the house. I looked up to Jess, she had a shocked look on her face, I didn’t know if it was about what just happened, or if it was about her mum walking in. I grabbed her top bringing it over to her, before we went down to her mum. I knew then, everything was perfect.

I just wanted her in my arms again, but I knew, we had done the right thing. Even though it wasn’t.
