Guess who's alive 🤪
Buckle up everyone (who is still here, good lord you guys have incredible patience), this is a long one and will be split into 2 parts.
There will be wholesome and funny moments within this just, ya know, keep in mind the title.
This was an idea in my mind that was inspired after seeing a Marauders AU fan-art on Pinterest, with Reg and James as Viktor and Jayce from Arcane. I haven't seen the show (I know I know! I've heard really good things and I promise I'll get around to it!) so I don't have any good fics to recommend BUT i absolutely loved the art style ♥️ and the idea of a supports through the hard times James...and frankly Reg with a snazzy cane was just chefs kiss 🤌🏻
Enjoy Xx
Sirius had received the letter about Regulus' injuries and discreetly made his way to the hospital wing, being careful that no one saw him. Sirius and Regulus' relationship wasn't what it used to be, Regulus had the dark mark and Sirius was living with James, that alone could've summed up the general instability between them.
Sirius looked inside the room and noticed Regulus' eyes were closed, he knew his brother better than that though, there were too many nights they'd pretended to be asleep, it had become a life saving skill. Sirius got closer to the curtain and felt his stomach drop, Regulus didn't look like he was sleeping, he looked dead.
Once Sirius was convinced Regulus was in fact asleep, he came over and lifted the light blanket that covered Regulus' forearm. The dark ink stared back at Sirius, almost a mockery, as it swirled against Regulus' porcelain skin. Sirius couldn't bring himself to think that his brother really was like their parents, that he really was what every other person had said he was, but the proof was right there in front of him.
Sirius put two fingers to Regulus' wrist, then lent over and listened to his chest. Regulus' pulse was slow, his breath was shaky. Sirius looked at his little brother, the moonlight shining through the hospital window as his dark curls fell across his face, covering the scar on his ear which Sirius remembered the events of all too well. He looked so young, so fragile. Sirius gently moved Regulus' hair out of his face and searched for a second blanket, 'it's just the cold, he's just cold'.
As Sirius adjusted the blanket, he noticed Regulus' shirt; unbuttoned as a balm or cream of some kind dried over it. Sirius looked closer at the mark and covered his mouth, it had a dark wound in the centre with stems of blood red petrified around it. Sirius placed his hand over the wound and could feel the sensation, roots of dark magic trying to escape from underneath Regulus' skin.
Sirius covered the wound and kept the blanket over his brother, somewhere in his mind he was praying this was all just a bad dream and if he kept Regulus close and warm, they'd both wake up. Regulus would wake up, he would wake up and see that Sirius had never really left.
There was a part of Sirius that wanted to hold Regulus' hand, it was right there, but he couldn't, it was like he didn't know how to act as a brother anymore. Regulus and Sirius had become so distant from each other that Sirius had no idea what was even happening to him. Sirius hadn't thought it was this bad though, surely he would've known? He would've noticed? Sirius stared down at Regulus, there was a blue undertone to his skin. None of this made sense. Sirius had experienced that curse before, multiple times, and it had never looked like this.
Sirius sat down on the chair next to Regulus and put his head in his hands, running his hands through his hair and looking over to the other hospital beds. He didn't understand what was going on, that was the crucio mark, but the level of magic Sirius could feel pulsating from beneath the skin, the way the streams of darkened blood spread across Regulus' chest, it wasn't normal...or at least the normal they knew.
