"What was she like?" I asked. Amara laughed smiling. "She was so kind... Always listened to everything me and my sister said." She said. Sounds like an amazing mother... "Was anything off before she went missing?" Marxyn asked. "Oh, she was writing more than usual..." Amara said. "She was always writing but after mother disappeared she was always writing.". "Her mother? Have you meet her?" I asked. How can two people just disappear... something happened. "No, not in person. My nana was an extremely paranoid and private woman." Amara said solemnly. "She's only send letters to my mother." Amara added, looking at the photo. She was so paranoid she couldn't even see her grand kids? What had her so damn scared. "You said your mother wrote a lot, what did she write about?" Coffee asked. "Anything really, her day, what me and my sister did that day... I think she sent them to my nana.". Sounds normal, but considering her mother was apparently 'paranoid', she might've been too. "Sometimes she'd be in her study for hours... just... writing." Amara added. "I swear she could write novels just on one encounter.". That doesn't sound healthy... No one should be sitting around writing for hours. Even famous writers take some type of break.
"Did you ever read the writings?" I asked. Amara shock her head. "Never, not even now." She said. "She always told me and my sister we shouldn't touch her work. So we didn't." Amara added. "Has your father read them?" I asked. "No, I don't think so, he couldn't even bring himself to look at her office after she went missing." She said. Understandable... It's hard to look at something connected to a loved one when they suddenly up and disappear. "This house was actually her's. My father couldn't bear staying in it. He gave it to me in his will.". Must've been one sad man. "When'd he die?" Marxyn asked. Amara sighed looking at a picture of a black man on the wall, her father most likely. "When I was thirty... He killed himself. Guess he wasn't doing fine after all. Stubborn man." She grumbled. She sounded angry but she was tearing up. It must be hard to lose both of your parents. I don't think I'll feel that pain. I have my parents.
"Do you still have the writings?" Marxyn asked after a minute. "Oh! Yes!" She said, cleaning her face. "It's all in the addict!" She said. "But it's quite cold up there at night." She said, looking out the window. It was dark outside already? We had gotten here a little late. "How about you guys sleep here?" She offered. "I have two rooms you guys can sleep in!" She smiled. "Thank you Amara-", "Please, call me GeGe... You are my great great grandson, no need for formalities!". I smiled nodding. "Right! Thank you GeGe." Amara smiled, standing up. "The rooms are just down here!" She said, leading us down a well decorated hall, pictures of Manny, Kelesy, my mom, and more people lining the walls. "Pink, this is manny's room. You and your sweet toothed friend can stay in here!" She said, opening the door to a room painted in a dusty violet and red. I see why my mom is named violet... "What's your name son?" She muttered slightly bending down to meet Kave's eye. "Uh Kaventon ma'am." He muttered. "What a pretty name!" She smiled, walking away with Coffee and Marxyn.
"What a room" Kave muttered, closing the door behind himself. I didn't answer him. I'm still supposed to be mad. Honestly I'm proud of myself for not folding after twenty minutes. "Are you still ignoring me?" He asked, moving towards me. Which is weird... usually it's the other way around. "Pink?... Are you serious." He grumbled. I sat down on the bed looking away from him because if I looked at him and his pouty face I'd cave. "Come on... Talk to me!" He demanded but he ended up sounding like a pouty brat. He let out a sound that sounded like he was giving up and walked away. Suppose that's the end of it. Wrong. He tackled me onto my back and started cuddling me. "What- Kave!" I said, moving to push him off because Kave initiating affection is weird. "Okay, Okay! I'll talk! Just stop this weirdness!" I said caving, but he didn't move. In fact, he just cuddled me more. "Kave, Please, this is weird!"
We ended up sleeping like that. Safe to say I learned my lesson: Kave doesn't like being ignored. Amara was kind enough to make us breakfast, buy us some new clothes and wash the others. Now we didn't smell like crappy hotel and old house. "Thank you for the clothes and food GeGe" I said. "Can I help clean?" I'd feel bad leaving it all for you." I added. Amara laughed, shaking her head. "No dear! You're a guest!" she said putting away a dried dish. "Well could I repay you for the clothes?" I asked. She did so much, it feels weird to take and not repay. She stared a bit like she was thinking, then smiled. "When you finished with this journey of yours, you and Violet stop by with some photos..." she said. "Photos?" I repeated and she nodded. "When your mother stopped contacting us we were never able to see you. I'd like to see old photos of you maybe have a couple copies to put up." She smiled. That's right... that bastard made mom cut off everyone around the time I was five. He had let his family's dog attack me and my mom's side obviously wasn't happy about that. But instead of admitting it, he blamed his family and convinced my mom her own family was trying to harm her 'happy family'. I think mom still regrets that day. "Of course." I smiled. Amara nodded.
After everyone had finished eating and all the dishes were cleaned, Amara lead us to the attic. "My father stuffed everything my mother wrote up here." She said, opening the attic. "I haven't been up here since, so I'm sure it's dusty.". Makes since, but ew... I hate spiders. "It's fine!" I said. It wasn't, but something could be up there. "I'm not sure if the lights work up there, so here's some flashlights." Amara handed us brand new flashlights, most likely purchased with the clothes. "If you guys need me just holler!" She smiled. "Thank you GeGe." I said. She nodded walking away. "If I get bitten by a spider I'm going home." Kave grumbled. "You wont get bit." Coffee said, turning on her flashlight, "You're not meaty enough." She added, climbing the ladder. Marxyn let out a chuckle, following after her. Guess sleeping together softened them up. Kave grumbled curses before climbing the ladder. "Jeez... Here goes nothing..." I muttered, following after him.
