7. Vengance

--NATSU'S POV--

I leapt away from (y/n), my eyes locking onto the flames devouring the cherry blossoms.

I dashed into it, hearing a short cry of protest from her. I gulped as much of the orange warmth as I could.

"It tastes sketchy." I muttered, searching around as I swallowed the last bit of fire.

My eyes tracked over to (y/n) was.

Was.

"(Y/n)?!" I ran in a large circle around the tree, "(Y/N)!"

"What is that?" someone asked, pointing in the direction of the guild hall.

I stared at the sight unfolding.

In the sky, swirling upwards as if it were a battle, was a stream of fire and water.

And who do I know that uses water magic?

My feet automatically took me toward her.

What is she doing?!

--(Y/N)'S POV--

I panted, my breaths ragged.

It's him.

Another streak of red-orange shot towards me as I manipulated the water to block it.

He's here.

There was a grin underneath the black cloak the assassin wore. I didn't see it, but I could sense it.

I could hear distant voices calling out to me, but I blocked everything out but him.

Him.

The man who killed my family.

Malicious thoughts tore through my mind, making the liquid more and more vicious with every jerk of my wrist.

I stepped closer and closer. Closer and closer, until hatred was all that was left within me. I engulfed his head in the water, making him unable to breathe.

The hood of his cloak fell back.

There was a splatter sound as the aquatic liquid fell to the ground. He gasped for breath, and I was trying to recover from my shock.

~Flashback~

I ran into Mom's room, my hopes high.

I was wishing that she'd let me and Kentaro go somewhere new, like to the next town over.

"Mom! Hey-" she looked up at me, her eyes teary. In her lap was a book filled with pictures.

"Mom? Are you alright?"

"Yes, (y/n). I was just looking at the only picture I have of your father." she turned the book so I could see it.

He looked like an older version of Kentaro, with his long black hair and dark gray eyes. He looked like a nice, caring father.

~End of flashback~

This man had (h/c) hair and light blue eyes.

It's a long shot to say this, but he's my dad.

I know it.

"Have you figured it out yet?"

No.

"I was there a while back. I came to... Let's say 'visit'."

He...

Something inside me boiled. How could he? How?!

He killed Mom and Kentaro?!

"W-why?!" I exclaimed furiously.

"I didn't need them."

"THEN YOU SHOULD'VE KILLED ME AS WELL!" I shouted, tackling him down and wringing my hands tightly around his throat.

He deserves to die. He killed his own family.

I let a smirk creep onto my face.

"This is revenge." I whispered.

This will make me stronger.

Someone tried to pull me away. I screeched as I struggled against them.

Then I heard something. A voice.

(Y/n)!

"Ken..."

Stop letting your anger control you!

"(Y/n)! Calm down!" Natsu exclaimed while I calmed down after hearing my older brother's voice.

He turned me around and held me close.

"It's ok. We'll have him locked up."

It was at that moment when I noticed the tears falling freely from my eyes.

I put my hands against Natsu's chest and allowed myself to sob quietly.

When my eyes reopened, I was home.

I must've fallen asleep when I was with Natsu.

As I went to sit up, someone hovered over me. I felt my self shoot up and our foreheads connected harshly.

"Oww!" the figure flew back.

"What the hell, Natsu?!" I exclaimed, holding my sore head.

"I was coming to check on you and you flew up like that! And I'm not Natsu!"

My vision focused, and I saw that it really wasn't.

"Gray?"

"Yeah! Watch it next time!" he took a deep breath, giving me a solemn look.

My head was spinning as I tilted it.

"Natsu's worried about you."

"Huh? Where is he? Can I see him?"

"Woah, didn't you used to be afraid of him or something like that?"

"Emphasis on used." I murmured, staring out the open window.

"You got pretty hurt out there. The doctor said to-"

Before he could say anymore, I flew out of the small bed and leapt out the window.

Me: is no one upset that (y/n) and Natsu didn't get to kiss? Really?

Natsu: didn't you say something about a Kirito reference?

Akita: it was in chapter one and this chapter. Chapter one wasn't obvious.

Akita: Ken? It's a nickname for Kentaro.
