Chapter 22

After playing hide and seek, Chris and I went to the kitchen and started to prepare for dinner.

"You're amazing with Jack." Chris said smiling widely.

"He's just so adorable. And funny." I chuckled, cutting the salad.

Chris slowly walked up behind me and wrapped his arms around me.

He started to leave small kisses down my jawline to my neck.

"I can't work, when you're kissing me there ." I said breathing heavily, as he reached the spot, between my neck and shoulder.

I placed the knife on the counter and turned around to face him. I smiled at Chris before I leaned in for a kiss.

"Are you going to be my new mom?" A childish voice asked, startling Chris and I.

I shared a look with Chris, before I stepped away from him and kneeled down in front of Jack.

"I'm never going to replace your mom.
Your mom, will always be your mom." I tried to explain.

Chris kneeled down next to me.

"Do you remember what we talked about? That mommy and daddy, aren't going to live at the same house anymore?" Chris said softly.

Jack nodded in response, with a blank expression on his face.

"Mommy and daddy might find someone new, to live with." Chris continued. Jack looked questioningly at him.

"Melissa is my new girlfriend." Chris said trying to explain further.

My heart almost jumped as I heard the word "girlfriend". I swear my cheeks were bright red, but I didn't care. He just told his son, that I was his girlfriend, and I couldn't be happier.

"Is she going to live in our house, everyday?" Jack asked curiously.

"Maybe, one day, she will." Chris answered, smiling sweetly at his son.

"Can we play hide and seek, everyday?" Jack asked excitedly, as he turned to me. Both Chris and I chuckled.

"Yeah. Of course." I answered smiling happily at him.
