As Sam and I walked down the hallway, I felt him slip his hand in mine. I looked up at him and smiled, he smiled and winked, making me blush.
"Willow.." Castiel said and we walked into the living room, "I think it's time that I told you the truth. About why I've been teaching you all these different skills throughout the years."
"Wow, Cas. Get right to the point, I see." I joked. "But let me ask you one question."
He looked at me, waiting for me to continue.
"Does the name Tara mean anything to you?" I nervously twirled my hair.
"Actually, yes. It means something to you, as well. Willow, you are half angel. Your biological mother, Tara, is an angel. Your father, is human, obviously." He explained. "I intended to wait until your birthday to tell you, but Crowley had to ruin it. However, on your 21st birthday, your Grace will be fully devolped and you will earn your wings." He smiled.
"My- my wings?" I asked in awe. "Wait, my birthday is tomorrow! That means, I get my wings tomorrow." I sat forward on the couch, trying to wrap my head around the new information.
"Willow, are you okay?" Sam asked, rubbing my back softly. I just nodded, unable to form words.
"Tara would like to see you, tomorrow, she has a gift for you. After you earn your wings, that is." Cas said.
"Okay." I said, "I- I think I'm gonna go lay back down... And process all of this." I said standing up, pulling Sam with me. Castiel nodded in understanding.Sam followed me quietly back to my room, closing and locking the door. I stood and stared at the floor, not knowing what to do or say, and Castiel's words played over and over in my head. 'You're half angel'.
"Willow?" Sam said, softly, moving my hair out of my face. I looked up at him as tears formed in my eyes.
"No, no, no, don't cry. Its okay." He hugged me close, and kissed the top of my head.
"I'm so scared, Sam..." I said, holding him tight.
"Sweetheart, look at me." He picked me up and walked to the bed, laying us both down.
I looked at him, trying to hide the tears. 'I'm not sure why I'm crying, exactly, I guess everything is just too overwhelming, right now. I mean, Sam and Dean showing up here, no big deal, I need the extra company. But then Castiel says that all the stories he told me as a kid were true, and about Sam, Dean, and myself. And that Sam is my true love, which is also okay with me, because let's face it, he's a hunk!' I thought to myself. I was pulled out of my thoughts by Sam brushing my hair out of my face.
"You're so beautiful.." He whispered and kissed my forehead.
"I can't believe it... I'm an angel. That explains so much!" I thought out loud.
Sam chuckled, "Like what?"
"Like how I heal over night, I barely feel any pain, and why I have the abilities that I do. It all adds up, I don't know why I couldn't see it before." I looked up at him.
"Well I'm curious to know what you can do." He said, playing with my hair.
"Everything that Cas does, I guess. He's been teaching me things since I was 16, after my family was killed. He's kind of become like my dad, and he would stay with me all the time, tell me stories before bed. And then he saved Dean, and he wasn't around as much, but he would still come at least once a day."
"Tell me about your family?" He asked.
"My mom's name was Brooke, she was a nurse, which is why I have all of that first aid stuff. My dad's name was James, and he was a mechanic. I had two little sisters, Raven and Cassidy, they were twins. They were only 5 years old... I was on a hunt when the demons came. I should have been here to protect them.." I started to cry. "And when I came home, Crowley was here waiting for me, told me that he wanted to make a deal. I was so angry, I killed his goons, but I couldn't kill him. I don't know, I just couldn't... I wanted to but, I wasn't strong enough." Sam listened intently, wiping my tears away every so often.
"Sam?" I looked up into his big, hazel, puppy dog eyes.
"Yeah?" He rubbed his thumb across my cheek.
I kissed him softly, somewhat hesitant. His hand moved to the back of my neck as he deepened the kiss, wrapping his fingers in my hair. I moaned softly, against his lips. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain rip through my shoulder blades, and a fluttering sound followed. Sam looked up in shock.
"What is it?" I asked him. Sam said nothing, he just stared in awe at something over my shoulders.
"Sam?" I waved my hand in front of his face. He blinked, and smiled at me.
"You should go look in the mirror." He stood up and pulled me to my bathroom.
"Why? Does my hair look funny?" I asked, confused.
"No." He chuckled.
He walked me into the bathroom, and I gasped.
"My wings!" I smiled, and fluttered them. "They're beautiful.." I breathed, and extended them. They were a shimmery blush color, with hints of white here and there.
"Can I touch them?" Sam asked, I nodded. He reached out and caressed my wing softly, and I shivered.
"They're soft!" He smiled brightly, running his fingers along the feathers.
"I wanna show Cas!" I said excitedly, and ran into the living room. "Castiel!"
He shot up from the couch where he and Dean were sitting. "What's the matter?"
"Look!" I beamed, stretching out my wings again.
"Willow, they're gorgeous!" He said proudly.
"Will you show me how to fly?" I asked, and he nodded.
"We should go outside, so we don't knock anything over." He said. And I nodded, heading for the door.
Sam, Dean, and Cas watched as I played with my new wings.
"Are you ready?" Cas asked, I nodded and fluttered my wings excitedly.
Castiel took a deep breath, and extended his long, black wings.
I smiled, as he reached his wing out and tickled my nose.
"Cas, why haven't you ever shown me your wings before? They're awesome!" Dean said, reaching out to touch them.
"I have. You saw them when we first met. Remember?" He said, turning his head sideways.
"Oh yeah." Dean smiled slightly.
"Willow..." I heard a soft voice call. I looked at Cas, but he was looking at Dean.
"Willow..." I heard it again, this time looking up. My wings fluttered absent mindedly, and Cas looked at me.
"What is it, Willow?" He followed my gaze to the sky.
"Someone is calling my name. A woman's voice..." I said.
