Shubman sat comfortably in the hotel cafe with the expression of someone who had absolutely no shame. His right arm, wrapped neatly in a white cast, rested across his lap like some absurd royal accessory.
Every now and then he would open his mouth expectantly, and, without missing a beat, Ishan would place another bite of breakfast into it.
Oh, to have Ishan as a boyfriend. And oh how to it feels to knowing that they will be getting married soon....
Shubman was wearing the satisfied smile of a man who had somehow won life's lottery simply by breaking his hand. Across the room stood Tanmay and Rahul.
Staring.
Not ordinary staring.
The kind of murderous, soul-piercing glare that could have cracked the hotel mirror.
Their expressions screamed one thing.
This clever kutte si shakal ka wolf... he always tend to escape these situations, at the end he always win.
The reason for their burning resentment wasn't difficult to guess.
Barely twenty minutes earlier, Shubman had stormed into their room with the noble intention of waking them up before the Day 1 adventure. What he found instead was a masterpiece of sleep-induced disaster.
Tanmay was hanging halfway off his bed, one leg dangling dramatically in the air.
Rahul had somehow rotated ninety degrees in his blanket and was snoring face-first into a pillow.
Any normal friend would have shaken them awake.
Shubman wasn't a normal friend.
After observing the spectacle for a solid five seconds, he had made a life-changing decision. With the biggest grin imaginable, he delivered one perfectly aimed kick to Tanmay's ass...
...followed immediately by another to Rahul's.
Two loud thuds echoed through the room as both boys landed unceremoniously on the carpeted floor.
Before either of them could even process what had happened, Shubman had already sprinted out of the room, laughing like a criminal escaping the scene of his own crime.
Now, watching Ishan gently feed the very culprit who had assaulted them earlier that morning, Tanmay and Rahul could do absolutely nothing.
After all...
It wasn't exactly socially acceptable to pick a fight with someone whose hand was fractured.
Shubman knew that.
And judging by the smug smile permanently plastered across his face...
He was enjoying every single second of it.
With breakfast somehow finished and everyone's bags finally packed, the group made their way downstairs toward the two rented jeeps waiting outside the hotel.
The mountain air was crisp, carrying with it the excitement of the journey ahead.
Ishan had slung both his backpack and Shubman's duffel over his shoulders, making him look like a one-cute-man luggage service.
"I can carry yours too, you know," Shubman protested for what had to be the fifth time.
"nahi matlab, nahi'" Ishan replied without even looking back.
Shubman sighed dramatically, but the smile tugging at the corner of his lips betrayed him. " achha waise.. main bhi chad jau.. "
" meri kamar tooti to dekh lena fir.. "
