For nine months straight Barry Allen was searching for evidence on who killed Iris West. He searched and searched but he just couldn't figure out who did this. Green Arrow was very lucky that his girlfriend was still alive but in the hospital. He felt really sorry for Barry. This type of crime fighting was not easy for the Flash, becoming a detective when you only kick butt, it just wasn't right. Finally he asked Batman for help. "What happened?" He said. My girlfriend, she...died. He said with great sadness. I need you to find out who blew up the restaurant. "I'll see what I can do" Batman said.
After six months Batman lost all hope. He told Barry to move on. Barry did move on. He thought of Iris as the greatest thing ever but then he thought that keeping her in his memories was enough. Soon enough he had another girlfriend, Laurel Lance. She was formerly Oliver Queen's girlfriend but never survived the blast and felt the same pain as Barry did so soon enough they made a relationship work. They got so close in their relationship that soon they were going to get married. This event was also bait for whoever wanted to destroy Barry's life so they hatched a plan that they knew would not be able to be avoided.
