Chapter 4
The alarm I had set on my phone the night before went off. I let out a groan and turned over reading the time. It was 7:00. I got up and went downstairs to find my aunt sitting by the bar drinking coffee, like she did every morning.
"Hello Veronica!" She said cheery. "Sleep well?"
"Uh, yeah I guess." I said pouring me a steaming cup, I filled it with vanilla creamer and sat down next to her.
"How did you meet Noah?" My aunt raised her eyebrows at me.
I almost choked on my coffee. "I met him at the beach." I admitted, starring down at my cup.
"I thought you said you didn't meet anyone." She smiled and smirked at me.
"I forgot." I blushed.
"Do you like him?" She teased.
"No!" I said immediately and a little too loudly. Liz chuckled and sipped her cup.
"Shouldn't you be getting ready?" She asked after a moment of silence.
"For what?" I asked knowing I sounded stupid.
"For 8:30." She smiled.
I smiled too and nodded. I got up and out my mug in the sink. I walked up the stairs and into my bathroom. I turned in the shower and blasted it on hot. I washed my hair and body and then just let the hot jets hit my body. My thoughts lingered to my father. He wouldn't allow me to leave the house, like ever. Never let me go with my friend who is a girl , let a alone a boy who was my friend. I quickly shook the thought out of my head. He was gone. I was safe to do whatever I wanted. After 45 minutes I got out and felt better. After brushing my teeth and combing my hair I walked into my room and pulled out some yellow jean shorts and a white tank top. I threw on my Sperrys and put my hair in a messy bun on the top of my head. I checked my phone and it was 8:27. Perfect. I made my way down the stairs and out the door to the front porch. I found my aunt reading a book on the porch swing. She looked up and smiled when she saw me.
"You look very pretty." She smiled.
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Thanks." I have to admit I'm nervous. I have never had freedom. I had never went out for fun. My days were spent sitting in a little apartment counting down the hours until my father got home. The thought made me sick to my stomach, but again I cleared it from my head. He was gone. I looked up and saw Noah making his way from his yard to mine.
"Hey." He smiled adorably.
"Hi." I answered.
"Thought you said you weren't coming." His green eyes twinkling.
"Well, I guess I changed my mind."
He chuckled. "So, you ready to go?" He pointed to his car parked outside of his house.
"Yeah." I smiled slightly and made my way over to his driveway with him right long side of me.
"You kids have fun!" My aunt called from the porch. I let out a laugh and gave her a thumbs up.
Noah's car was nice. It was a BMW and it was silver. He opened my door and I sat on the buttery leather taking in the smell of Noah. Noah then got in and put the keys in the ignition.
"Ready?" He asked, turning on the radio. A Maroon 5 song came on. It was an old one. Won't Go Home Without You blared through the speakers. Noah cranked it up and started singing along, the bad thing was he was actually good.
Every night you cry yourself to sleep
Thinking why does this happen to me.
He sang, then looked over to me. "You know this song don't you?"
