The Opposite of Her

I positioned myself in the driver's seat to carry out the plan that Calum had presented. It's not exactly luring them out of their cover but it will maybe save us from fighting those big guys face to face. I breathe out heavily to reduce the building emotions inside of my stomach. I'm a little afraid even with the shield of the armoured vehicle and the thought of having been a part of killing another two living human. I'm a little disappointed with myself because it's been four years of constantly saving my life from bad and dead guys and I'm still not accustomed with the idea of shooting them dead even if some of them are basically corpses.

"You ready, Michael?" Enzo asked from the outside.

"A moment!" I replied.

I took another deep breath and started the engine.

"All right!" Enzo shouted, pumped for another exchange of fire with our opponents. I think he's kinda insane for his excitement of danger.

"Ready?" I asked.

"Been ready since forever!" Enzo replied then chuckled.

"Shut up, Enzo." I heard Vera told him then she hissed.

I started driving slowly while Calum, Enzo and Vera take cover in the back of the vehicle. I am going towards the gun shop, and I'm really nervous if this vehicle can actually break the wall but Vera said she's positive so I continued driving slowly.

"Faster!" Vera shouts from the back.

"Okay, okay." I replied frantically.

I drove faster towards the establishment, when I reached the opening gate I step on the turbo as I close my eyes. I opened my eyes again to see that the wall had crumpled to the ground and that the armoured vehicle is just slightly deformed. I sighed in relief. Then after the silence of breaking the wall, I hear the shots of gun around the place. I duck in case there are stray bullets that will come on my way. After a few minutes, the shots started slowing down, then there is complete silence.

I was still covering my head when Calum knocked. "Path is cleared." He says.

I got out of the vehicle and observed that the siblings are gone. "Where are they?" I asked Calum.

"They are pretty pumped to check the whole place and take away all the weapons they can find. We better reunite with them and took guard on the place." Calum replied.

I nodded then followed Calum as we run to the room where Vera and Enzo were. When we arrived there, Calum and I stayed on the door. I saw them quickly inspecting the weapons they had found in the armoury. I look at Enzo who have a very big smile in his face and I can't help but to smile too. He looks really happy. I turned to Vera who is as usual lacks emotion, she doesn't seem to feel anything at all, I noticed that she has a bruise in her right shoulder which is not present earlier.

I turned to Calum who's at the door with me as a lookout then asked him in a whispered tone, "Where did she get that bruise?"

"She got us on the floor before the bullet hits me. She shielded me with herself from the fall, so her right shoulder got all the impact." Calum said quietly, clearly ashamed having a woman save his ass. Then after a while he shakes his head and smiles, "I think we're wrong about everything we think about her, I don't think she'll shoot us any minute after what she did for me. Though I'm still a little afraid of her, this woman is seemingly trained to kill, Michael. I don't think she's a person to mess with."

"We don't need to worry about that, there's no point on messing with them. They've done nothing at this point but to help us." I said.

"Right. Although do you think they'll let us stay with them after we found Ashton and Luke?"

"I don't know but I really hope so. I think we have a better chance of surviving with them." I replied.

We were interrupted when Vera suddenly said, "Did you hear that?"

"What?" Enzo asked her. We focused and listened carefully to our surrounding and I think the sound came from the other room, it sounds like there is someone sobbing.

"I think it's from the other room." Said Calum.

"I'll check it out." Vera said then immediately proceeds to the room next to us. We followed her.

Vera tried to open the handle but it's locked. Enzo shot the door knob with one of his hand guns and then Vera shoved the door to open it.

We found a girl curled up in the corner covering her head and crying.

"Please don't hurt me, please." In the few moments that we have crushed the door, she had said these words a lot of times already.

Vera slowly approached her, then she sits down in front of the girl. "We are not going to hurt you." Vera told her.

The girl immediately looks up, maybe shocked to hear a girl's voice. "Where are they? Are they gone?" She asked her while crying. She looks like Enzo's age, she looks pretty short maybe five feet and two inches with a brunette hair and brown eyes.

"We've taken them down." Vera replied shortly.

Then suddenly the girl embraced Vera. I saw how Vera tensed with the touch but she returned the hug, seems like she's not accustomed with touching. "You're okay now, stop crying." Vera comforted her.

Enzo approached the two and then the girl looked at him. "Did they do anything to you?" Enzo asked.

"They drag me here, they said they're going to make me their toy before they could do anything they heard a noise and they all quickly left and locked the room." The girl says in between sobs.

"Glad to hear they haven't hurt you." Enzo said then she patted her head. "Can you get up? We need to go now."

"Can I tag along with you guys?" The girl looks at us then at Enzo and Vera.

I'm surprised when Vera is the one who answered, "Of course you can."

The girl cried then said, "Thank you so much."

Vera helped the girl get up then passed her to Enzo. "Let's get going! You two, grab the weapons then let's go. We created a lot of noise; we can't risk being here for long." And just like that, she's back to her unemotional self.

Calum and I quickly get to the weapons as Vera, Enzo and the girl exit the building.

"Don't you think she's a bi?" Calum said while quickly packing the weapons.

"Who? Vera?" I replied.

"Yeah, like really she doesn't have the same tender reaction towards us when we were the one who was in basically that same situation."

"Maybe. I don't know. She looks like it though." I replied.

Calum and I nearly had a heart attack when we hear someone laughing. It's Enzo. We haven't noticed he had come back to help us. "Seriously guys, we're in a hurry and you're chatting if my sister is gay? Oh my God, she'll find this very amusing! Now, let's carry these precious items then we can tell her about this!" Enzo says while laughing.

"You will not tell her!" Calum and I shouted in unison.

"Whoa. Chill." Enzo said laughing harder this time.

"Seriously, Enzo, you're sister hate us enough." I said.

"Who said she hates anyone?" Enzo replied.

"It shows she doesn't want us around." Calum replied.

"Believe me, I know my sister, she won't hate anyone who needs our help or does nothing but help us." Enzo says. "Now let's just carry these weapons so we can go. It's not safe here anymore. We can talk about my sister being bi later, okay?" Enzo said while carrying one of the bags then wink before he turned and walk towards the exit.

Calum and I looked at each other. I bet we are thinking of the same thing. If Enzo mentions anything to Vera, we are basically dead.
