Fight Between The Eldest Sons

Chapter 21 ~ The Final Stand

~Your P.O.V~

"So the impure human finally decided to show up?"

It felt as though I couldn't move. My body refused to even shift a single inch as I was hit was the thick coppery smell of blood. Standing a good way's in front of me is none other than Tsukinami Carla himself. But seeing him isn't what surprised me and has nearly brought me to tears.

Lying on the floor in random places leading towards Carla are the Sakamaki's. Kanato and Ayato are closest to me, simply lying on the ground, lifelessly and covered in their own blood. Not moving anymore than I am and I think that they're already dead. Subaru is a little way's in front of them, though he's trying his hardest to get back up while his silver knife lays next to him on the floor. Laito is just getting up a little ways in front of him while Shu and Reiji stand furthest away and closest to the First Blood King himself, looking back towards me with slightly widened eyes.

Something in me broke right as I saw the six vampires that are my family in such a state. I was gone for no more than half an hour and this much hell has already broken loose? And of course this annoying First Blood had to come right after I told Reiji and Shu I would choose one of them once I returned from visiting the Mukami's mansion

Great, just great.

"___!" Laito suddenly yelled, breaking the eerie and somewhat strained silence that had fallen around us. "Why the hell did you come back, get out of he-" His words were cut off as one of Carla's magic orbs hit him dead in his side and caused him to go flying into the wall to our left.

Reiji and Shu didn't utter a single word as I slowly took a couple of steps forward. I didn't dare look at Kanato or Ayato, in fear that I might burst out into tears as I neared Subaru while he struggled to stand up. "Stay down." I whispered to him as I knelt down and grabbed his silver blade.

"Tsk, I'm not staying down when I can still help." He snapped back almost instantly.

"You're in no shape to fight and I'd prefer if no more of you would die. Besides, this fight is no longer just yours to fight alone now is it?"

Subaru gave me a small glare that soon turned into a small, almost saddened smile. "Kill that bastard for me will ya?" He knows exactly what I meant and that this has now turned into my own fight. Giving the white haired vampire one final cheeky smile, I stood back up with the silver knife clenched in one of my fists.

This is where I make my final stand as a human being.

Fighting Carla with only two other vampires that I love in order to help me win is of course going to result in either just me or all of us dying together. But, I've been preparing myself for this day since that first time I ever met Carla and Shin in the music room of Ryoutei Gakuen. Things sure have escalated since then and now look, I'm about to fight the First Blood King and most likely die in the process only to protect the remaining vampires I have left and avenge the ones I've lost.

Step after step, I left Subaru sitting on the floor where he is and began walking to where Reiji and Shu stand. Once I made my way in between them both, I walked a little further and then looked directly into the First Bloods golden eyes. The eyes of a murderer who wants nothing more than to avenge his own brother's death. I guess Carla and I have more in common than I initially thought...

"Are you sure about this ___?" Shu asked me at nothing more than a whisper. "This isn't your fight to end." Reiji added on as I just scoffed at both of them.
