How It Began

I don't remember how I got this way...a living monster. A creature that nobody should see. Something that someone shouldn't love... I loved him. I cherished him. I wanted to always be with him...but why?

~Six Months Ago~

The alarm buzzes against my nightstand, the vibration mainly agitating me. I reach over to turn it off, then I take another minute to rest. Bursting my eyes open, I then remember what day it was - August 31st. First day of school. I rub my eyes and yawn like a tired kitten. My bright blue and black hair gives off a warm tropical aroma around my head, causing me to get hypnotized and nearly fall asleep again - but no. Not this time. My mother lightly stomps into my room and shakes my shoulder to wake me up. The scent of an ashtray hits me in the face like a truck, so I know it's her.

Her light, raspy voice says, "Come on, Alex, wake up. You need to get ready for school." I mumble, "Please don't remind me." Instead, I just sit up and let my hair down from the scrunchie holding it together. She leaves my room to the livingroom, probably going to smoke her morning cigarette. I glance around my room to the windows, witnessing the pale light and I murmur, "Great. Another year of hell." It was the beginning of Senior year and I take a moment to breathe. "It's the last year, Alex, your last year of seeing everybody you hate." I spring lightly to my feet to the carpet of my bedroom, so I grab a band tee from my closet and some black skinny jeans. I take my grey tank top and black shorts off and drape the new, fresh clothing on to my body. I take a minute to glance at the mirror and look down at my body. Jesus, I'm skinny. Picking out a my black Toms, I pull them on to my feet and get ready to do my makeup.

When I'm finished with my light foundation and winged eyeliner, I go into my private bathroom to brush my teeth. Then I brush, comb, and straighten my hair, getting it all perfect. It only took but five minutes.

When I'm finished with everything necessary, I pull my backpack over my shoulders and walk into the livingroom. Mom is whispering on the phone, probably to one of her bitchy friends as my stepdad is getting ready to light a joint.

I comment, "Really, Randy? This early? I would have pegged you for a 'joint at ten in the morning' kind of guy." He scoffs and places the joint in between his chapped lips. I step outside of the house and pull my phone out of my bag. Thank God we get five bars out here. I scroll through my Instagram feed just for the time to pass until the bus to gets here. I hear a motor running, so I turn my phone off and put it back in my bag. The big, yellow bus stops in front of me and I walk. As I enter the vehicle, I'm instantly bombarded with teenagers looking up at me and going back to their business. A few boys my age make mocking kiss sounds towards me, but I ignore it, just like I do everything. I stride to the back of the bus then sit down, and plug my headphones in, setting it on to Pierce The Veil and blocking out the outside world.

--

The bus is full, completely, mind you, but it's easier since I'm the last person off. When everyone else exits the bus, I take a second to recollect myself, and exit shortly after. Going towards the entrance doors, I breathe, thinking to myself, "You go to the cafeteria, hear about new teachers and staff, then go off with your class sponsor, Mister Whittlesby. You got this." I walk towards the cafeteria, striding past friends hugging and talking about their summers and I'm just standing there like an emo potato.

I pull my phone out and scroll through my Twitter feed, because Twitter, and I sit down on a chair with a table that no one is seated at...for now at least. A guy in my class, Mark, and his buddy, Carl, come up to me and act like the snooty jocks they are. Mark states, "Hey, Alex, I heard you had a lot of fun this summer, a little too much fun, maybe. You know, about the bonfire and how you went into the woods with with that college sophomore? I bet you showed him a good time." I glanced up at him from my phone - something I thought I would never do - and I question, "What the fuck are you talking about?" Carl says, "Oh, dear Alex, don't even deny it. We know you emo girls like to be antisocial but be a little naughty. It's just what you do." I scoff and comment, "Like you did with Greg last year at the football game under the bleachers? Yeah, nice try, man. I might be antisocial, but I know what goes on around this hellhole, so unless you want me to give what's left of your soul to Satan, I strongly suggest that you get the hell out of my face and onto the football quad. You seem like you go there a lot. Hookups or bj's?" I place my ear buds back into my ears and Carl stammers in surprise. Mark pulls out my right bud and whispers in my ear, "I've got my eye on you, Dorame." I dramatically place my hand over my chest and say, "I'm so intimidated."

Then they walk away.

The Satan thing gets them every time.

*A/N: I hope you guys enjoy this new Johlex series I'm writing! The whole point of this series is for it to be different and creative, but I'm the type of writer to basically make it a whole other storyline like it would be in real life. So, sit back and enjoy the ride. :3*
