Tell Me!

A few weeks have gone by and things were kept the way they were even though Tendou still acted distant towards Moa. A pleasant Saturday rolled along and the gang decided to have a lunch date to unwind from school responsibilities. As always, Masahiro was the go-to guy when it came to dining at the best, yet affordable, places. Morgan and Samantha, unfortunately, could not attend because they had already made plans for their own date but the rest of the group didn't let that stop them from continuing on with their fun. They were all sitting together around a circular table with a lazy Susan in a Chinese restaurant that served Sichuan and Cantonese cuisines. Yuusuke was sitting in-between Tendou and Moa with Tsukasa, Naomi, Ayumi, Natsumi, and Masahiro on either side. Everyone was having fun and enjoying the food, however, Tendou remained relatively quiet. "Tendou, are you okay? You don't look too good." Yuusuke asked. "Yeah, I'm good. I'm just not used to eating this much spicy food that's all. It has quite a kick to it." Masahiro chuckled. "I know. It's great isn't it?! It's like a thousand fire needles pricking the inside of your mouth down your throat into your stomach and within your intestines! Oh man, don't get me started on the pain when it comes out--" "Please don't. I'm still trying to eat over here." interjected Tsukasa. "Honestly, I'm fine Yuusuke." Tendou reassured. Once they were all done with their food, they went to the closest ice cream parlor to cool their mouths from the residual spices. "Ugh--my goodness this is better!!" said a relieved Natsumi. "Ya know, maybe we shouldn't eat spicy food while it's still FREAKING SUMMER! Dammit, Masala!" "For real. When it's winter that kind of food will be handy" said Naomi and Ayumi respectively. "Fine, fine. But ya can't deny that it was pretty darn good wasn't it? I'll take us somewhere else more 'suitable' next time."

Before they knew it, the sun was setting and signs of rush hour were showing, thus, they ended their day and headed home. Moa, Yuusuke, and Tendou were walking together until Yuusuke was picked up by his parents. Not wanting to be a burden Moa and Tendou declined the offer of getting a ride home with them. "Today was fun, wasn't it?" asked Moa. "Hm? Yeah....yeah it was. My stomach is feeling unnaturally warm though." "Hehe, same here. That ice cream sure hit the spot!" "Yup."  Minutes passed with wordless conversations and the sound of footsteps on the sidewalk. Unable to take it anymore Moa breaks the monotony.

"Do you not like me, Tendou?"

"W-wha--huh? What are you talking about?"

"Are you still upset that I bumped into you?"

"Uh...no. It hasn't been on my mind since."

"Then what's wrong with me? Whenever we hang out with our friends--whether it's at school or somewhere else, you're always quiet when I'm around! And it's driving me nuts that you're giving me the cold shoulder."

"I-I didn't mean to treat you that way. I think you're a genuine and kind-hearted person."

"Then why won't you be friendly with me like how you are with the rest our friends?! I know you like me and have feelings for me and I like you as well. And I know you do because I had Yuusuke ask you weeks ago--so just tell me now!"

"Hold on, hold on. Yuusuke must have misinterpreted my words. I don't like you that way. I only like you as a friend. Nothing more."

"Don't lie. He told me that you have 'feelings' and 'sensations' in your chest and that it makes you feel 'uncomfortable'!"

"Oh...." Tendou's voice trailed as he tried to find a way to break it to Moa.

"It's.....it's something else. It's none of your concerns. Besides, we're at the front of you house. Have a good night, Moa. See you at school."

When Moa went inside her home and into her room, she felt an uneasiness in herself. She knew she made a mistake by being confrontational and putting Tendou on the spot like that. Luckily it didn't blow up and turn into a giant mess. She didn't scream at him from the top of her lungs for all passer-bys to hear but rather in a more subtle way to avoid such attention. Regardless, it wasn't a pretty sight. The weekend flew by and Monday came along. However Tendou didn't show up for school. Tuesday passed. Then Wednesday came. Thursday went by and before they could blink, it was already Friday afternoon. "Hey, have any of you guys seen Tendou?" asked Morgan. "Yeah, where is he? He was suppose to join me, Morgan, and our mutual friend for Robot Restaurant on Saturday", Samantha added. Yuusuke leaned towards Moa and whispered to her. "What did you do when I left with my parents?" Moa still holding the guilt in her heart quietly spoke."I might've...broken our promise." "What?" "I told him about that one time where I had you ask him about me and lost it..." her voice trailed off. Yuusuke sighed a deep sigh and shook his head. "We were doing so well, Moa. Now he's gonna feel defensive towards us--you and me, especially." "Look I know it was a bad thing to do but I was tired of beating around the bush and wanted a straight answer."
