7:50pm

Drew walked me home. "Thanks for the day. I think I really needed it." I told him.

He smiled. "No problem Maya."

"Oh! Your sweater!" I said about to take it off. "No. It's okay. Keep it." He said.

I bit my lip. "You sure?" I asked uncertain. He nodded. "I'm sure."

I smiled. "Thank you. And thank you for that note today after class." I added.

He nodded. "I was just being honest. You're at you're most beautiful when you smile." He said.

I blushed. "Goodnight Maya."

"Goodnight Drew." I whispered. I headed inside.

I closed the door behind me. "Where the hell have you been all day? Didn't call. Didn't come home after school." Mom started shouting.

I breathed in slowly. "I was out with a friend." I told her trying to stay calm.

"What friend? For fuck sakes Maya, you're grounded." She said.

My anger exploded. "Grounded? Grounded? I was out. I'm allowed to go out with friends and have time for myself without you yelling at me all the dam time." I shouted back.

She stared at me. I knew what was coming...

Her hand raised and I flinched. "Don't ever talk back to me." She said through grinned teeth.

"Why ma? You don't like hearing me talk back?" I asked. SMACK!

Her hand flew and hit me right in the face. "Get upstairs! NOW!" She yelled.

I did as she said and ran upstairs. I slammed my door and sat there on the floor.

I gasped for air. Gasped and gasped. But nothing.
